On some of the posts, of the words are hyperlinked. I clicked on one thinking it was a link relating to the topic, but it redirected me to some shopping site. Is this a virus, or is this site hosting advertising?
Also I am using Google Chrome

Shouldn't be. I never added code for that.
The only thing you should see, to my knowledge, is the ad banner at the top (unless you have it blocked, of course) that Jason Riley asked me to put up a month or so ago. That's all.
