Marc Stein@ESPNSteinLine
Lakers awoke Thursday as one of 13 teams with a sub-.500 record ... but only one of those 13 with a positive nightly point margin (+2.7)

Marc Stein@ESPNSteinLine
Hope for Lakers: Elias says 95.4 percent of teams with positive scoring margin have made playoffs since current format introduce in '83-84

More unreal statistics.... almost maddening when you consider what our record would/should be

We should be 14-6 rather than this weak record

Pretty much. And a majority of all this without Nash as well.

Sad days in Lakerland when you have to dig deep for stats on hopefully making the playoffs.

I got an interesting stat:

0% of NBA teams 12th place in their conference have made the playoffs.

It ain't positivity dude. No need for sarcasm.

Once upon a time making the playoffs wasn't a concern. Championships used to drive this team. Now, this season it seems simply being in the middle of the pack is good enough.

Once upon a time injuries mattered. But nowadays they only matter when another team not ours has them. :)

Because we didn't care about other teams losing all passion for the game and letting what should be a promising season fritter away in to hopefully making the playoffs.

Like I said, but no one factors in our injuries nor gives the team any benefit of the doubt and would rather jump to either bragging about their misfortunes or acting like all hope is lost.

When we start losing like this with our full roster then maybe I'll agree. Hasn't happened yet though has it.

And exactly when is that full roster going to be healthy, in shape and up to speed?

When the Lakers are 10 games below .500? There isn't time to be patient any more. 23 games gone, over 1/4 of the season and ZERO improvement on any front.

Doubt they'll be 10 games below .500. Zero improvement on any front than explain to me why we've only been blown out once and our average margin of loss is 5 points while being without Nash and Gasol?

Misleading. Games like OKC and NYK werent blowouts by the final score but were blowouts when it mattered before the opposing team let up and coasted. Just because the Lakers went on runs to make the final score not look so bad doesn't mean anything.

Oh of course when we come back and make games close it's because a team's coasting so that we can give no credit to our team whatsoever.... I see the logic. they coasted for entire second halves... I see....

I think a lot of people are also assuming that once Nash and Pau are healthy we are clear for injuries for the rest of the year. True injuries are part of the game, but we're in such a hole now any more and all hope will be lost. Other teams will have the luxury of having some down time for injury...

When Dwight can go out there and score 30 a night without another team preventing it by fouling him let me know.

You make it seem like Kobe and Dwight are as offensive a threat as Westbrook and Durant's combination.

They aren't.

The excuse "We have Kobe and Dwight we shouldn't lose" is an old and debunked one.

Try again.

For all that has gone on up to this point in the season, I can take it as a positive stat. I totally get what your saying Fido and your definitely right about championships being the measuring stick for us, not simply making the playoffs. However, on the optimistic side for us to have any shot at winning a title this season we're going to be a low -playoff seed regardless. I would be shocked if we got a top 4 seed. I know it doesn't seem plausible right now, but as long as we squeak in the playoffs, which will mean we have improved significantly since we have to go 53-19 or something like that the rest of the way, anything can happen when the real season begins

It's because we blew out the other teams in our wins, but lost many games that were close.
