our 2nd unit needs a player who can create offense on the wing, once nash comes back in 2weeks, delonte's impact on this team will be huge.

Hell, his impact on the team would be huge even before Nash comes back because he'd keep Duhon and Morris off the floor. That could only be a positive for us. The less of those two, the better. Especially Morris, he is just terrible in all facets of the game.

No, it doesn't. Nash coming back isnt going to make the Lakers start to defend and rebound better. He isnt going to make this team start playing with heart and look like they give a damn. He isnt going to make them start hitting FTs either. He MIGHT cut down on the turnovers but they have much bigger problems a PG isnt going to solve.

yeah but the turnovers are what's costing us games.

Our rebounding and defense was good against the Cavs, heck we kept them from getting an offensive rebound till a little before halftime. But all the turnovers we had in the first half got us in the foot cause they scored off them.

Turnovers are our biggest enemy. The reason Delonte is sought after is because of his defense at the one and his ability to score. Which will help our one option be a little more viable even if our turnovers stay not as good he can still score and defend well alongside everything and is better than Morris and Duhon by leaps and bounds.

There are handful of PGs in the league who are both good defenders AND true floor generals...and all of them are franchise players.

Forget about getting them for the vet's minimum...Barbosa was the closest thing to that which we could have had, realistically.

Delonte is NOT a POINT GUARD. Never has been nor will he ever become. He's a scoring guard, lead guard at best. He's a 2 in a 1's body. He would have made a heck of a Triangle PG but in this system, he's no better than Blake...and Duhon will run this offense better.

Is he an upgrade defensively? Yes.
Offensively? No. He can create his own shot...not much more than that.

Would rather he be in the stretches of the game aside from Morris right now and Blake is out till January and the way we're turning over the ball over we probably shouldn't wait for Nash if we can get Delonte.

And when Nash returns having Delonte only adds greater weapons to our arsenal.

Even if he isn't that great at facilitating, he's better than what we've got. When Nash is back, it will be a big plus having a good defender in the pg spot, protecting the lead we've built :D

NBA Rumors – Delonte West to LA Lakers?

December 10, 2012 08:30 PM EST

The LA Lakers offense has improved since the hiring of new head coach Mike D'Antoni, but the team's defense still needs work, even with Dwight Howard in the paint, and changes must be made for this team to start playing good basketball and qualify for the NBA Playoffs.

At 29 years of age he still has plenty of good basketball left in his career, and despite troubles in Dallas, he would give the team a defensive stopper they don't have on the roster.
West has averaged nearly 10 points, three rebounds, and over a steal per game in his career, and most of those numbers are with limited minutes on the court. The LA Lakers could use a good all-around player to help the bench and a player not afraid to take on the better shooters in the league.
Dallas entered the year without the former first-round draft pick on the roster due to off-court issues with other players and coaches, but a move to a veteran NBA team like the LA Lakers could resurrect his career and give the team the boost it needs over the last few months of the season.

HAPPEN!!!!

For those wondering, the article is basically saying that since Duhon and Morris aren't panning out in the best of the Lakers ideas their eyes are on Delonte West.

Los Angeles Lakers are considering adding Delonte West to fill point guard void

Posted Image

According to both Marc Stein and Ramona Shelbourne, the Los Angeles Lakers are finally considering adding free agent Delonte West to shore up their point guard deficiency.

After a despicable loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers riding the point guarding mastery of Chris Duhon and Darius Morris, it appears the Los Angeles Lakers are considering adding Delonte West into the fold to serve as a stop gap while Steve Nash takes at least another two weeks to recover, and Steve Blake is out at least another two months. Both Marc Stein and Ramona Shelbourne are reporting that "sources" indicate the Lakers are interested in adding the mercurial back court player to their roster.

Sense I get is that D-West, widely regarded as top available PG, is at the top of Lakers' list ... but word is they'll indeed look around— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) December 12, 2012

One issue, of course, is Lakers have full 15-man roster. Among reasons they didn't sign D-Fish before Mavs: L.A. wanted to move one PG first— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) December 12, 2012

Source tells ESPNLA.com Lakers hweighing other options at PG. Situation w/ Nash too unclear. Can't keep waiting while they lose.— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) December 12, 2012

We'll keep you updated here at Silver Screen & Roll on any progress regarding the addition of Delonte West to the Los Angeles Lakers.

As a bench player, he'll do fine.

People thinking Delonte is going to change this team drastically on the defensive end are going to be very disappointed. NOBODY keeps the elite PGs out of the paint when they want to get there.

We actually have done a decent job on the ball. We are just getting killed in P&R, help and recover and overall team defense. We are gambling too much and not rotating to the right person...there are times the other team gets a layup because 2 guys run to cover the same player!!! That's not individual mistakes...that's a lack of defensive schemes being taught to the team...as expected.

And Kobe, Kobe, Kobe...there's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.

Oh well...Go Lakers.

A PG isnt the reason they are losing. How about playing some [expletive]ing defense? How about getting some rebounds? How about making your FTs? How about moving the ball instead of 1 pass and a shot? How about not averaging 16 TOs a game? A PG is the least of this pathetic team's problems

A PG isn't the reason they're losing in a PG driven offense? OK.

Playing defense? How about teaching defense.

Getting rebounds? Really? REALLY?

FTs? That's part of the Dwight Package...as-is, take it or leave it.

Moving the ball? Uh...PG.

16 TOpg? Again, PG.

This team and it's coach thrive in an uptempo, high energy, ball moving environment. If you want most of the problems to go away, bring in a PG who will get them easier shots in the right spots on offense so they can concentrate their mental effort on the defensive end...then, we'll see how this team looks.

Until then, complaining about multiple deficiencies without a real solution won't help. I understand your frustrations but the gameplan begins with offensive execution...until that is squared away, nothing else matters.

And if you don't understand that, you do NOT understand Mike D'Antoni or his coaching philosophy.

charlie redzz(delontes rapper name) will get the team easier shots... hes a good/smart offensive player, and what do good/smart offesnive players do - good=drive , smart= move the ball to the open man ,,,,believe it or not, most nba players know the game offensively and they know when to swing,or to kick it to the open man when they drive,,,its really basketball 101. even "ballhog" players display good/smart traits, i see JR smith and carmelo swing the ball, and drive and kick all the time ,,,now imagine how good/smart a player will be offensively with the label "PG"..

dont underestimate how fun it is to pass the ball, and be an effective distributer,,,it may not get alot of media attention,,but teammates and league-mates will love u for it

That whole "I'm gonna be a starter in Charlotte" thing isn't panning out so well for him either is it?

The Bobcats record is about the same as ours and he gets to touch the ball. Maybe it is

If Delonte West is the answer, we are in deeper ISH than I thought. But I agree with your 2 and 3. Thats what happens with poor draft positions and having a bad scouting staff
