They need to develop some sort of defensive gameplan, make use of the fact that Dwight Howard is in the middle ready to provide help. Playing off the opposition and tempting them into jumpers instead of giving up a straight line drive would be a good start.
It's almost impressive the number of times we play solid defense for 17-20 seconds before completely folding and giving up an easy look.

i'll believe it when I see itI know ya'll probably HATE hearing this but a LOT of these problems do go away when Nash comes back. it's frustrating to hear it over and over and over again but it's just the truth. Morris was absolutely awful tonight and should have been yanked when we were down by 5 instead of when they went down by 10

You damn straight I do. You love to notice.
And when Nash returns and our turnovers diminish and we start winning because of it you're going to be one sad little heat fan.
If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.
You should reach more often

I don't understand how this team takes so many possessions off on the defensive end. It's not even a coaching issue. Guys simply don't move their feet, rotate, or make smart decisions. Nash can come in and turn us into an offensive juggernaut, but it won't make a damn bit of difference until someone figures out how to fix our defensive issues on the perimeter. We make it WAY too easy for the opposition to penetrate.

Wasn't even really the perimeter defense today that annoyed me. It was how many points they got on the inside with Dwight there and how many turnovers we had.
Nash does more than make us an offensive juggernaut he cuts down on our turnovers.
Utah got 70% of their points off our turnovers and in the paint tonight.

Nash will limit our turnovers, but what about the [expletive]ty perimeter defense? And when Nash returns and our turnovers diminish and we start winning because of it you're going to be one sad little heat fan.

Then MDA wont play himWe need to trade pau for a defender. Doesn't have to be good on offense, just someone who can play good defense

We had 14 turnovers tonight, below our season average. Our piss-poor defensive effort is what cost us this game. All but two Jazz players shot over 50% tonight, they were getting whatever they wanted. Our perimeter defense gets broken down extremely easily, even with simple high P&Rs, and our interior defense gets compromised as a result. Did you not see the number of times that a perimeter player on the Jazz got right by their man for a drive before dumping it off to a big or just going in for the score themselves? Compromised defense = easy drives = huge point in the paint totals.
Defense is the issue, and Nash is not going to fix that. We'll look smoother on the offensive end, and we won't give the opposition as many run-out opportunities, but if we can't defend in the halfcourt then we're going to struggle every single game.
