http://www.grantland...e-kobe-question

It talks about Kobe in the top 5 Kobe career his personality and about his leadership style. Great read with alot of history behind it. I really recommend the read guys.

A quote in there that really struck me was this aswell:

From what I heard, Kobe already played the "You don't know anything about winning championships!" card with Howard — during a scrimmage last week, when the second team beat the first team partly because Howard checked out (he wasn't getting the ball enough), followed by Kobe blistering him.

Just finished it. Simmons does write good articles some times. To most of the Lakers fans, Kobe's personality is well-known. That is why we love him. It will take some time for other fans to see this side of Kobe. Maybe after he retires, but they are making progress. And articles like that one can only help, ironically coming from a Celtics fan / Kobe hater.

Of all the Kobe-haters, Celtic fans and other morons out there, Bill Simmons is probably my favorite. He is still quite biased when it comes to Kobe (who puts Bird in front of Kobe on the all-time list ????), but he does try to give credit where credit is due, unlike the awfull Henry Abbott of Truehoop, who is the prototype of sportswriter wanna-be stat-geek.

Oh, the article was an interesting read by the way.

Bill Simmons I won't really take serious when he talks about Kobe/Lakers since he's such a well known hater... But dude knows his basketball for sure. I like knowing his opinion on other teams.

I read his articles pretty often. They almost ALWAYS contain at least one jab at Kobe or the Lakers, but it's usually in a playful "I'm-a-Celtics-fan-reminder" way. Oh, and every title the Celtics won against the Lakers was well deserved. Every title the Lakers won against the Celtics was a fluke. Kevin Mchale wasn't 100%, he would have blocked Magic's hook shot if he was. No Perkins, he would have stopped Bynum if he played, etc.
That being said, when he's talking big picture he usually does credit the Lakers and Kobe accordingly. For a Celtics fan, he's tolerable and entertaining when not talking Lakers/Kobe.

Yeh I love his writing style. Although he hates bryant and the lakers he somewhat Love us in a weird way. Its like we love CEltics we love them because we want to beat them. Id want to see the Celtics agaisnt us in the finals every year, because well I love to Hate them. Its the same for him. In saying that he has a hell lot of respect for our organisation and Kobe Bryant.

Good Article from a Celtic Fan/Writer
This is his veiw of how Kobe does it.... and slowly gives credit.....painfully at times
Does Kobe trust anyone enough to tell about his own way of doing things?? I doubt it
Maybe in about 10 years

and this is why kobe got 1 mvp in his 16 year career. people dont see how hes a good team and a leader. they just see the tip of the ice berg than the bottom.

5 rings, 1 mvp. what a insult to kobe.

Kobe should at least have 2 or 3 MVPs. He should have won ONE at least in 2006.

Kobe should at least have 2 or 3 MVPs. He should have won ONE at least in 2006.

Here are my years he should of gotten it
2003 - His numbers was crazy and had a crazy 40+point streak, its debatable but what ever

2006 - For sure, 100 percent he got robbed that year. Hell, Kareem got in 65 when the lakers went 40-42. Kobe had to everything in that year. EVERYTHING.

2009 - He came 2nd however in 2007, the media said the MVP should go to the best team with the best record with the best player.. Well lakers were 66-16 and Kobe was the best player. Oh the double standard.

2010 - 7 game winners. Do i need to say more? Without those 7 game winners, Lakers would barely make the playoffs because it there was a 8 game gap from 1st seed to 8th seed in the 2010 playoffs. This guy saved the lakers ass 7 times.

If lakers get more wins this year and kobe still plays like how he is right now ( 28, 5, 5 on 48% shooting, 39% from the 3pg) and ppl will say he has howard and nash.. well lebron got his last year.. what the hell is that? he has bosh and wade.

In 2009 we were actually 65-17, but the West is way harder than the east from top to bottom (especially back then) so he should have won regardless. And yeah, 2006 was just plain robbery. Just awful. He should absolutely have AT LEAST 2 and should realistically have 3, maybe 4. But I don't take much stock into regular season MVP's. The people who decide them are asking all the wrong questions.

I don't see the positives in this folks. It's another Simmons' hack job where he bashes Bryant as many times as he can.

I hate that I read it, as I generally don't read Simmons' bash pieces anymore. Some comments on here sucked me into this thinking it would be something other than, "I'm Bill Simmons and I'm going to keep getting web site hits by bashing Kobe and the Lakers."

What how did kareem win an MVP in 1965? lol If you meant 1975, he still didnt win one then :S. I think you meant 1976 :D..

But yes I agree MVP voting sucks, the media bend the "rules" of how to vote everytime they want someone over another. Its stupid. They found reasons NOT to vote Kobe. Man to be honest in 2008 to me was way less deserving than 2006. Media can be stupid sometimes.

Kobe's legacy won't be decided by MVPs, not anymore. Maybe 5 years ago it was a legit argument but not now. So I don't think it matters. But if we can elevate our record to 55-27 or something I expect him to get one this season. You know the media loves a story more than anything. To them neither LBJ nor KD can provide what Kobe is offering right now.

55-27? Damn thats gonna be tough

46-16 till the end of the season, Possible. But the wins got to start now. Problem is wins are going to start till Howard is healthy, Nash is back and fully in the rotation AND on top of that Pau playing at least 90% of his good play....

I think our record will end up around 48-52 wins.

Opps i meant 76! Funny because 2008 kobe numbers was close to 2010. He deserved it more in 2010.
