Or have the 2 minute rule apply when the player getting fouled doesn't have the ball.
But that makes too much sense.

- If you foul away from the ball, the player who has the ball should be shooting free throws.
- Good one I heard on AM710, which is one Ireland, Mason, Kellerman all agreed on. If a player is fouled off the ball, the team can select which one of its players can take the foul shots.
Everyone can agree with the strategy and say the league won't change it, but the NBA revised the rule a couple times with the biggest change being the last two minutes of games.
At the end of games, teams have to prevent certain players from getting the ball so they don't shoot free throws. What's the big deal with extending that last two minute rule to let's say the last five minutes or the entire fourth quarter?
