Another reason why the Bron/Melo thing is pure fantasy is because they are both naturally high usage.  Unless Melo wants to leave NY being the guy only to take a back seat to Lebron is a focal point no reason why they should team up.  This isnt the Olympics and Melo isnt the offensive playmaker Wade is.  So is ability to adjust will be suspect and an expensive risk at 23M a year.

Carmelo doesn't have an issue in a lesser role.

hence why he'd want to play with Kobe.   Those two already formulated how they'd play together, they did this during the Olympics and worked on it afterwards  with Kobe saying that he'd play Carmelo at the 4 position.

If those two can concoct a way to play together to the point where Kobe says EXACTLY how they'd play one another, and with Kobe Bryant, Melo wouldn't have been the "man" anyway, he'd been attacking off ball and from the post.   Two things he WANTS to do and he is best at.

After another team of "carrying" the Knicks and having them crash and burn in the playoffs with Bargnani on the books, Stoudamire there another year, JR Smith being himself, and their point guard or wings not getting any better, I don't think he'd mind being with a diminished role. Especially considering the happenings of his previous stints.

Carmelo needs to be an off-ball option or 2nd option on a team, not the team leader.  One more year in New York will teach him that, which I'm sure he already knows.  He wanted another leader beside him, like Rondo.

But nope... they got Bargnani and some other guy.

The only "benefit" Melo could see in having Bargnani is that Bargnani will be on the 3 point line 99% of the time which allows Melo to be where he wants to be, the post.

But when Bargnani's other failures start to rear their head, Melo will start to hate time in New York more and more...

What evidence do you have of this? Plus if Melo came to play with Kobe in 2014 I'd question why is a 29 yr old in his prime taking a lesser role to a 36 year old.  You are hanging on to words that mean little when you are excluding the other 3 guys on the court.  Kobe and Melo wouldnt be playing 2 on 2.

I dont see how Melo makes LA any better than an expensive 1st round maybe 2nd round team.  If Melo comes alone more than likely he will be the franchise player.  Not a good recipe if you want to rebuild a contender and if LA can't splash another young or prime guy then they really dont have any hope to offer to one up NY

He literally said, "what evidence do you have of this?"

...Watch the damn olympics.

It's not 2 on 2... Getting teams to play together is a coaches job. What evidence do you have that Kobe and Melo would not be a good team? THATS RIGHT, NONE.

You're telling me a team of:

Steve Nash/Steve Blake

Kobe Bryant/Nick Young

Carmello

-----------

Pau Gasol

Won't be contenders?

That blank power forward spot would decide whether it is a DAMN good defense too.

You really want to use the OIympics as evidence for how players will play together?  Pau looked all world in the olympics and teams took a wet dump on him 2 playoffs prior.  When you have a team full of the best possible talent in the world vs teams that have some NBA talent where maybe 1 of them may be an all star.  Horrible way to bank on how they'd play in the NBA team together.

If Kobe was 30 again sure I'd be up for Melo coming but Kobe is in space where we dont know what he has left and then he's going to be 35.  Unless you are comfy with Melo being the best player on the Lakers and can believe in a foundation on him which has been proven on numerous occasions not to work then go right ahead.

He literally said, "what evidence do you have of this?"

No one never said it wasn't but it would be an absolute disaster on the defensive end.  We need guys that can make defensive plays to win championships.  You can't simply bank on outscoring the other team.  Can't think of the last team that won this way.  Took Dallas getting Chandler to regulate things so Dirk could do work.

They're interchangeable.

LOL btw we enough money to build around Kobe, Melo, And Gasol. Could be Lebron could be someone else. That team will still be a contender.

You really don't understand [expletive]. How do you find evidence on something that never happened yet? You want to give us evidence about how Melo and Kobe wouldn't work? You can't find any right? Are you on synergy sports studying statistics       ?  I don't see anything other than the Olympics to use.

If you have Pau at the 5, Melo at the 4 and Kobe at the 2.  Where does your interior defense come from?  What caliber PG can they sign at that point?  Lowry maybe but he isnt going to terrorize PGs on in the backcourt.  What defensive guys are at the 3 that will be available? Any team built with Pau and Melo in the interior is going to be a messed defensively.  This isnt fantasy basketball man.  Think about the strategy of putting different types of players on a team does in the NBA not the Olympics.

We have the money to make that team a good defensive team as well..

There's also a thing called team defense. We played TEAM DEFENSE during 2008-2010. There was NO defensive anchors.
