Should have stopped the game and gave him a standing ovation. Pretty dissappointed by that.

Unless I missed it, the New Orleans arena didn't even acknowledge the accomplishment when it happened? Bush league...

Congratulations Kobe. You are the hardest working and most dedicated basketball player I've ever witnessed. You have made my life more enjoyable and brought me up when I was down. You are simply amazing. If the Lakers would have given you starting minutes the 1st couple of years, you would have eclipsed 30,000 a year or so earlier and no one would be able to surpass you being the youngest to reach this monumental stat, ie LeBron if he does.. Hoping for another 10,000.

Awesome accomplishment.

Nice to see him get 4 power dunks too. Dude got extra amped up for this one and looked like a vintage Kobe out there.

Elite.

He has a chance to reach wilt and the number 4 spot before the season ends

Averaging 28 points a game in his 17th season, leading the NBA in scoring

Wilt
MJ

Then a couple seasons before thinking about

Malone
Kareem

63 games left this season and Kobe has scored 532 so far. Lets say Kobe plays 60 games total and scores 27ppg (he's at 28ppg now)
A little thought experiment....

Sason Age PPG GP Total season Total Career
12-13 34 27 60 532+1620 31636 Passes Wilt in the final weeks of this season
13-14 35 26 80 2080 33716 Passes MJ around Christmas 2013

Now lets say he decides to sign a 3-year deal on a team with Dwight, Nash and capspace to sign quality FAs (plural).
14-15 36 24 80 1920 35636
15-16 37 22 80 1760 37396 Passes Malone about 60 games into the season (a bit earlier than easter)
16-17 38 20 80 1600 38996 Passes Kareem around the All-star break. Ends season with 38996.

IS THIS UNREALISTIC??????

A few notes:
MJ scored 22 ppg at age 38 and 20 ppg at age 39
Reggie Miller averaged almost 15 ppg at age 39.
Jason Kidd is having a career year in NY at age 39 and is signed for two more years.
Stockton's final 4 season he played ALL games and his production / efficiency did not decrease.
