When the other teams get inside as easily as they do against the Lakers, it's hard to ask players to stay at home on their guy.

Michael's defense at age 33-35 > Kobe's defense at age 31-33.

Seems like Kobe's only into it on defense when he's guarding superstars or All-Star caliber players and doesn't take good role players and scrubs seriously when he's guarding them. Especially when the guy starts getting hot.
Michael's defense at age 33-35 > Kobe's defense at age 31-33.

What does this have to do with anything? Kobe didn't play well defensively today, but overall on the season he's been solid in that aspect.Seems like Kobe's only into it on defense when he's guarding superstars or All-Star caliber players and doesn't take good role players and scrubs seriously when he's guarding them. I guess he expects the other guys on the team like Ron and Dwight to pickup the slack for him.

It's not that he's old, thats just a stupid excuse u guys are giving him. Look at how he's scoring the ball on offense That doesnt look like an old guy to me. Whats the problem is that he roams off his man which causes other players to switch on D and screws up the rotations, etc.
yeah me too, i dont like the excuse that he's old when he plays like a young kobe on offense.. just pathetic excuse

I don't think age has anything to do with his defense. I think his legs are there. He just doesn't respect the guy enough to guard him.Kobe does coast on defense, I'm guessing at his age he knows he wont be able to stay in front of everyone.

Okay so, why else would he start playing like a free safety in the later years of his career?
Unless he doesn't study tape of guys he thinks are nobodies so when game time comes
he completely underestimates these guys and gets lost on the defensive end.
