...and now a loss to the THREE win wonders, Cleveland Cavs. What an absolute joke this team is. The Clippers have always been my 2nd favorite team and I think they have just about become my new favorite team. At least they have some heart. This Laker team is just pathetic from top to bottom.
Go ahead and root for the Clippers. Thanks for jumping off the bandwagon express

Can Phil really fix this? Maybe, but I doubt they'll get to a championship level.
According to some people yes. We just are not playing defense, turnovers aren't helping either.

Too trueThe Lakers are going to spend more money firing coaches than hiring Phil Jackson straight ahead

It's still possible that they turn things around and get into the playoffs (assuming some return to normal health), but it might be too big a hole to climb out of to make any significant playoff run. Nash could make things so easy on offense that they are more into the game and have more energy to defend, but I'm not optimistic about the defense.
The Lakers management/ownership brought this on themselves when they went with D'Antoni. Sure, maybe before they fired Brown they thought Phil wouldn't coach again and that D'Antoni was the best option. But in the end they hired a guy a) whose offense is totally dependent on a point guard when their top two point guards were injured and b) who has never successfully coached a defense squad without bringing in a defensive coordinator. Phil's teams may never have been dominant defensively, but at least they weren't terrible.
