lol Mosquitoes, I would have gone with bullsharks myselfAt first I thought it was a weird name but it makes sense for them.
Btw, in case anyone was wondering, there were five names that were filed trademarks by the NBA: Pelicans, Rougarou, Mosquitos, Swamp Dogs and Bullsharks.
Pelicans were the best out of those 5 IMO

I did not like it at first, but the fans made a ton of cool logos, and the one they choose is cool..

Utah should give back the Jazz name to new orleans...
NO, should give back the hornets name to Charlotte.
And, Utah should be called... well... something else better then pelicans...
The Pelican would be the lamest professional sports mascot ever...
I think Utah should change their name to the Utah Mormons

And it will be the Pelicans, over the Nets, 97 94.
Tune in Sunday for our NBA double header, where the Knicks will play the Celtics, and the Magic take on the Pelicans.
Just trying to get used to Pelicans. Not really happening.
The Lakers need to close out on the outside shooters of the Pelicans.
Yeah, not feeling it still.
And it will be the Pelicans, over the Nets, 97 94.

I still hate the name, Thunder. Sounds like a kids soccer team. The Thunder's logo and colors are among the absolute worst in the league as well.
Read the history of the name Pelicans as it relates to New Orleans, makes perfect sense.
However, I'm all for Utah giving the Jazz name back to New Orleans and Charlotte getting Hornets back.
