I heard one thing that D'Antoni said, that was interesting:

He said that when you hire a guy like him you hire a certain style of play, which was why he was reluctant to play inside out.

This is not an attempt to defend the guy, but it explains why he took so long to change the way he wanted to play. If Jerry Buss decided that the Lakers should get back to playing Showtime-esque basketball, despite their current roster situation, MDA could still prove people wrong. I hope so, anyways.

Personally, i prefer winning basketball over fun-to-see basketball.

I would love to see a thread that says a team reaching out to MDA for offensive asisstant duties. That's his job. Come on MJ, let your Bobcats hire this guy.

If Lakers management seriously thought that this roster could play like the Showtime roster I have serious questions about what they're smoking.

Good thing McMillan still isn't hired, maybe teams miss on him so Craptoni can assign him to his powerful coaching staff.

Forgive me for beating a dead horse but, Phil turns down Brooklyn.... Now says he would coach as long as he has say in the roster.... I wonder what team(s) he is looking at....

A "building" team, like he said. A team going nowhere that would allow him to be executive and pick everyone from the training staff down.

He wants the Pat Riley thing.

He also said he told Mitch in November he didn't want to coach anymore. But when he and Mitch talked about the "possibility" Phil said he'd only consider it cause he wouldn't have to move anywhere and meet anyone new, but that he still needed to think about it.

I think the reality is, if we got Phil, he'd be gone this off-season too. Because if you look at what he's asking other teams that they are saying no to(because he wants too much creative control outside of coaching) its not outlandish Mitch would turn him down for the same reasons, or that Mitch DID turn him down for the same reasons.

No established team is gonna give Phil Jackson(who is unproven at all those areas except coaching) all of that power off his coaching credentials alone.

Only a team "building" aka going nowhere and with nothing to lose would take that risk. That's why Phil looks at them.

Lets say MDA has a similar to bad start just like Mike Brown.

We will have another chance to make the RIGHT choice.

Phil Jackson turned down the Brooklyn Nets' head coach opening, but he is open to coaching a team if he has influence on the roster in the organization's front office, according to a source.

Keep clinging to your fantasies.

It amazed me how people STILL think MDA won't be here next season.

I don't cling to fantasies. I'm informing people and LOL are you stupid? I literally said, "Let say MDA has a similar start to Mike Brown.." Not "MDA won't be here next season.."

There is no way that Jim gives Phil the power that he wants. As much as I wish Phil would return, if that is what he is demanding, it won't happen.

Personally, I think he's bluffing to an extent. As Majesty mentioned, there is zero chance that an established team gives this much power to anybody. The only teams that would are bottom-feeders like Detroit or Orlando. I would be shocked if Phil would pass up a chance at a ring for a chance to play a real-life version of "The Sims".

As if you wouldn't give PJ power over the roster, he's a proven winner and obviously has a great basketball mind. God dammit, why can't he coach us!! The world is not fair. Imagine what we could do if Dwight resigns and we have PJ as coach. Suddenly the lakers are very attractive.

Another thing that i really hate about D'Antoni, is that he doesn't like playing guys who can't score. Like Mike Brown, D'Antoni is the type of guy who doesn't like certain players, despite good production (e.g. Matt Barnes).

I fear that if we manage to land a guy like Ronnie Brewer, who is an awesome wing defender, i think he might end up riding the pine.
