General O'Hara: My Lord, if we re-form and wheel right, we may be able to fire D'antoni. Lord General Cornwallis: You dream, General.

hes not a defense guy. He said the way to counter defense is more offense.Call me crazy, but what why doesn't the guy just devote 95% of the practice time to defense? We're not ever going to really have problems scoring - Can't get any worse.

i agree but some of this goes on managmentaswell they knew he was a no D coach. If jim really did not want phil back then it came at the expense of the franchise. And that is why he should be fired. I'm so sick of watching us lose.

Last time we lost four in a row Mike Brown got fired.. We are stuck with him for two years. Smfh
You must have forgotten the Lakers 4 game losing streak from just a month ago. This is the 2nd time this Mr. Pringles coached team has dropped 4 straight...

I'm with you. But we gotta turn it around quick. We're 1-4 in January. This is supposed to be our break out month.
This team isn't breaking out of anything, except the playoff picture...

You don't post often, but this was a great post nonetheless. Why was D'Antoni even considered for this job? Because his point guard that he consistently failed with when it mattered was on the roster? Or was it because he is a supposed offensive mastermind?
Or (my favorite) is it because we wanted to bring SHOWTIME back??!!
This was a terrible hire. Worse fit than Mike Brown and I didn't even think that was possible.
You don't hire somebody and then have to adjust your personnel. You hire somebody that FITS your personnel. This is common sense.
What did the front office see in this team that hinted they could run Mike D's one and only (and flawed) offensive system for 82 games + the playoffs.
For all the great trades the Lakers made this summer, they don't mean [expletive] when you assign idiots to manage said acquisitions.

I didn't like the hire, and still don't, however it's has GOT to be more to it than coaching. For one, Pau is underperforming. For two, he and Dwight don't fit, it's too slow and redundant.
Another thing is Metta is a volume shooter, as well as Meeks and they are very streaky. The other problem is Jamison can't seem to get on track on the defensive side of the ball.
If you had your PFs playing better, then Metta as a SF is OK, but we have holes up and down the roster.
Nash and Duhon aren't better than Chris Paul and Bledsoe or Westbrook and Maynor or Parker and whomever or Curry and Jack. So we are behind the 8-ball from that position.
Kobe and Meeks win every match-up due in large parts to Kobe, but you're compensating for the rest of your poor guard play from the back-up 1/2 positions.
Metta is still a below average SF and he doesn't really have a back-up three besides Kobe who I will not count. Ebanks and Jamison both are out of the rotation, minus these injury line-ups.
So through 3 positions, most teams in the West can hang with our perimeter play if not exceed us. Whether it's Denver or Houston , every team has tough guards and forwards to at least hang with ours, if not flat outplay them.
Moving to the interior, we have Dwight,Hill, and Pau who really get minutes. We have Metta who plays inside and we also have sacre,Clark and Jamison who can play but have no defined role on this team.
Pau is outplayed by most if not all PFs he faces this year. A guy like Millsap or Scola or whomever. Guys like Blake and Z-Bo destroy him, but the media still thinks the Lakers have Pau form 2009 or something.
Dwight gives us All-Star production and a great defensive anchor to boot.
Hill is a great rebounder on the offensive end and a average defender. He has high impact in limited minutes.
The front court is solid, it needs more point production though That means either Pau steps up. or you find a way to utilize Jamison as a coach.
The sad thing is this team feels like the Knicks it's last couple of years before MD left.
