He basically said no worries whatsoever, we're perfectly fine. Then Mike Brown gets fired, then he lashes into his teammates. Kobe doesn't exactly always tell the truth. That's fine though. As the leader, sometimes you have to keep a confident demeanor about things even if the results aren't showing at the time and you yourself don't truly believe it.
Kobe's not going to call out his teammates in the media like that. As we've learned over the years he's often very political when it comes to the PR. Who knows what happens in the locker room?
Players like Kobe and Jordan are very similar in that they demand a high standard of performance because of their own abilities. That's why they make [expletive]ty coaches but on the court are leaders who expect a lot out of their teammates.
