My dream situation that can't get out of my head is:
Gasol to the Knicks
Amare and shumpert to the Lakers

This benefits both teams because (obviously) amare would fit right in. And I think that shumpert is EXACTLY what this team needs.
Shumpert is that guy that we can put on Westbrook or any of the other athletic point guards. In this trade shumpert would be bigger for us that amare. I know it's a stretch and we are definitely getting the better end of the deal, but the Knicks are playing great without those two I think Gasol is a perfect fit with the Knicks. He's that perfect post distributor and a good post option for the Knicks when melo ain't cuttin it. I know a lot of people don't like amare, (mainly) because of his contract, but I love this trade. Also why I think the Knicks would possibly do this is because they have:
Felton
Kidd
Brewer
J.R. Smith
All at the guard positions so one of these guys would be under utilized.
CALL MITCH!
What do you guys think.
P.S. I know a lot of you are gonna say no way in he'll the Knicks would do this but just think about the Knicks rotation when amare and shumpert come back.

And then where is our size coming from?? Then we'll have 3 Power Forwards alternating at Center. Gasol may be soft but he is a True Center when palying the 5. And why would we take on a contract worse than Pau's?.At least Pau stays healthy. Are Amare's numbers that much better than Pau's??

Knicks are having success playing Melo at the 4 spot. I wonder what Woodson is going to do when Amare returns, let alone getting a natural post player in Gasol.

If Pau isn't a good fit in Lakers, what makes you think Amare will be a good fit in Lakers with Dwight?

I think we would need to give them more than just Gasol. Maybe Meeks or Morris.

How about this:

Lakers get: Ronnie Brewer, Steve Novak and Amare Stoudemire.
We get three players that all fit into D'Antonis system. We do take on a bit of money going forward which is risky considering Amares knees, but getting Brewer and Novak would be worth it.

Knicks get: Metta World Peace and Pau Gasol
Knicks get a 3pt shooting, tough defender in Metta as well as a big, who can play off the ball. They also get out of Amares contract which is good since he isn't a good fit in NY (he cant play with Melo).

Do NOT under any circumstances unless it's for a superstar trade MWP who has been the best Laker behind Kobe this year. He's having a career year, trading him now would be stupid and getting those likes in return destroys what defense we have...

Nonsense! This trade could make a lot of sense for both parties. We get 3 players who will fit perfectly into D'Antonis system and we will not give up anything on the defensive end with Brewer replacing Artest. Novak playing the back-up 3 is better than Jamison doing it, and Pau/Amare is basically a wash.

The problem with this trade is the risk involved and honestly, i'm not sure if getting Amar'e is really worth it. At least with Pau we know what we have (and not have), we will always have a back-up C who can do almost everything (except play tough defense) and with Pau we do not hamstring our options too much going forward.

WTF?

You need to bring it down a notch when it comes to Ron. He's not a superstar...hell, he's not even an all star.

Pau Gasol is GONE

Lol. No way Knicks will let go of shumpert. Make it more realistic and throw MWP and Pau for Shump and Amare.

I guess I can't blame you for thinking this is an even deal since Lakers always get the best deal.

mwp and pau

2 aging players

for

2 injured players
Stat and shumpert. Id be happy to take on shumpert, but amares contract is depressing. Especially his knees and constant eye problems.

We would have a replacement 2 in shumpert, but would dantoni play him on bench? I think hed rotate kobe to sf it that happens.

Imagine that line up

Pg-Nash
Sg-Shumpert
Sf-Kobe
Pf-Amare
C- Dwight

That sounds sexy.
