Several sources believe the Jazz will keep Raja Bell simply so he doesn't sign with the Lakers. Utah and L.A. will compete for playoff spot.

For what it's worth, Raja Bell has been telling players and friends around the league that he'll join the Lakers. We'll see if it happens.

So, the Jazz are gonna keep him for the remainder of the season because he's gonna help the Lakers?

I guess he's a game-changer now, huh?

Veteran Raja Bell, who is nearing a buyout agreement with the Jazz, has been telling players and friends around the league that he'll join the Lakers, tweets Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld. Bell won't sign off on a buyout arrangement with Utah until he has his next job lined up.

Bell is in the final year of his deal in which he is earning $3.48MM and the two sides have been going back and forth on a buyout all season. The Lakers are among the teams with interest in the 36-year-old and an available roster spot to add him to the mix.

Bell has to be cut loose prior to Friday's buyout deadline if he hopes to appear in the postseason for another team this season. Free agents who haven't been on an NBA roster at any point this season could still sign after that date and be playoff-eligible, but anyone currently on a roster must be released by March 1st to retain postseason eligibility.

The Utah Jazz and veteran swingman Raja Bell may be closer than ever to the long-rumored buyout.

Shams Charania of RealGM.com reports via Twitter that "Bell and Jazz have a buyout settlement in place, but it rests on Bell's ability to find a contract elsewhere. So far, still no takers."

Charania adds: "Bell's agent, Herb Rudoy, continues to talk to several teams. Bottom line, as it's been for months, is no team has stepped up to commit yet."

The closer we get to the critical push to the playoffs, one has to believe that a team like the Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat could take a chance on Bell, but apparently neither is quite willing to do so as of yet.

Miami? Really? Lmao. They're so stacked that they can't even get dudes who would play for us playing time and really, as if they need any more defenders and knock-down spot-up 3PT shooters.

yo.

Besides, maybe some competition for Meeks wouldn't be all that bad.

I don't think he'd be competing with Meeks. He'd be there to do the Barnes job. Be rough, stretch the floor and hustle and be a defensive pest off the bench.
