Why do you want even MORE garbage on the team?http://www.nba.com/d...le/ld_williams/
can we sign him?

Barbosa and Barnes would have helped MB as well, but yea, would love to have players that play with heart and soul Barnes and Barbosa would have been great additions.....to bad they are not already part of the team...Whenever a new coach is brought it, they like specific players to run their systems. We saw it with Phil Jackson who liked big guards, savvy veterans, etc.
This team is obviously going to speed up the tempo and get a lot of possessions, but in the off-season (and even this year at the deadline) I expect the Lakers front office to look at different types of players.
Had D'Antoni been in place to start this season, we could very well have players like Barbosa, maybe kept Barnes, etc.
What types (or who) of players do you see the Lakers going after? Obviously we'll still be financially locked up but we'll still add a player here and there.

3 guys we could use:
1) Mickael Pietrus. He can defend, shoot 3s from the corner (.42% last season) and would fit perfectly into D'Antonis system. He is a FA and could perhaps be had for the vets minimum plus the remainder of the mini-midlevel.
Bonus: Pietrus signing in LA would also be like sending an F.U.! to Boston, which is always nice.
2) Raja Bell. He is still an effective defender and he shot .44 on corner-3s last season. This is one of the only situations where Blake could be used as a trade chip.
3) Trevor Ariza. Washington is clearly not going to win this year, and Ariza is overpaid. They would probably try to bottom out in which case they could be persuaded to deal Ariza.

This was a joke right none of these players could contribute to any team

Really? Ariza wouldn't contribute to this team off the bench?

I agree with you about Pietrus and Bell, but Ariza would definitely help this team in the second unit. 27 year old athletic wing is what this team NEEDS.

Really quiet now about possible trades that normally surround the hiring and firing of a coach...I believe something is brewing and may be completed before Nash returns...
Just a hunch, no inside info.

thats very possible, i could lean towards the same hypothesis.. on the other hand ,maybe Pau gets his last chance to really be a threat,,,,,maybe they feel they owe him that!?

If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.
