Some of us we're talking about it in the 'Pau needs to go thread'.

Maybe it's still too early since he's played only like 2 games with Nash and we haven't even started practicing our new offense yet with MDT, but despite all this Pau is in a shooting slump this season thus far.

I wanted to make the argument that maybe it was the Princeton, but even the past 3 games without the Princeton offense he's shooting 38%.

He's averaging 13.8 a game on 40.4% shooting but the dude is still getting his normal 10 boards a game and 1.5 blocks and his free throw shooting has been phenomenal.

I think if we moved Jordan Hill to the starting role and had him to get the occasional easy bucket and his normal rebounding and blocks, we could let Dwight dominate the first quarter, then let Pau come in fresh with the bench and take over Dwight's center role.

A lot of people might not like the idea because of how much Pau gets paid, bu so what? As long as you finish the game with him and he gets the same amount of minutes what difference does it make.....especially if the theory is correct that he could be a lot more productive with minutes with the bench unit. The payroll is the payroll and all that matters is winning.

Anyways, it's unconventional but I am curious to read some actual thoughts on why this is a good or bad idea.

I'm saying let's turn Pau into the 6th man, since we don't have one anyways.

Hill's better off the bench for now. But he could start if we traded Pau for a SF.

No. Pau can play more minutes with the bench without actually coming off the bench. I'd do that.

Putting him on the bench would just hurt his confidence even further and it would make him worse.

I think that's a good/valid point, but you could make the argument that it's more strategic.

Hill isn't a starting PF, and Pau is luxury for a bench player. Ship him for a starting SF/PF then we talk. This team CLEARLY needs 3 point shooting from one of those positions.Metta is inconsistent as [expletive], and Pau can't shoot a 3 to save his life *cue how to save a life*

We really need FRESH blood. And Pau is way past that point.

Agree this would be bad choice.

Pau off the bench? Who do we want starting? I still think Hill brings a great spark off the bench.

Hill is a better bench player. He is most effective there. We just have to deal with pau.

He makes too much money to be coming off the bench. Besides, every 2nd or 3rd game he plays like he should so we are kinda just stuck with him playing inconsistent for now..

Yes but don't start Hill, we need his energy off the bench.

Start Jamison instead.

Pau seems so mentally weak that I fear his confidence would be completely shot by a move to the bench. There's also no guarantee that he becomes more aggressive/effective for us, so I don't really see the benefit to this. Theoretically, he should be dominant against the opposition in the paint (possessing one of the best low post arsenals in the game), but he just isn't. It's been a mental issue for the last 3 years and there's no telling when/if he'll get it all together anytime soon.

Those are prolly the same Laker stan alarmists who over-react to any & everything & dont think str8. $20 mill per year does not deserve to come off the bench otherwise he wasnt worth the extension in the 1st place.
