I don't see this question is brought up much, well I haven't seen it really. But just looking back through the archives I come across a gem that I remember from childhood but not in the way I see it now.

Michael Jordan's first ring back in 1991 beating the Lakers with the famous layup we all know adore and see.

Actually going back to these games and the closeness of all but the second game, and the nailbiter that was game 3(I watch that game with the Laker fan in me still hoping Jordan misses that final shot before OT lol) it leads me to a very particular question.


Do the Bulls beat the Lakers if Scott and Worthy aren't injured? Now those who remember the pivotal game(4) remember Jordan's spectacular play and the lead Chicago had but they also remember how the Lakers closed the gap to 7 without both Worthy and Scott on the floor. It got me to thinking, those were two HUGE HUGE blows to the Lakers as a whole and at that point who did they really have to rely on aside from Magic? Who in the next game got his 20 assists despite not having Worthy or Scott out there.

But I think it's a legitimate question. Do the Bulls beat the Lakers without the absense of Byron Scott and James Worthy to injury?

I'd love to hear you guys opinions on this.

Also remember the history of Phil Jackson never losing a series when he wins the first game? The Lakers won the first game in this series. Overall the series is a classic. I just would like to know the other posters opinions.

I don't like these kinds of talks, but I'll say I believe w/o a doubt we beat them if Worthy isn't injured.

Lakes would of took the cake if Worthy wasn't injured.

Worthy? It was the Magic injury that made the series swing in the Bulls' favor.

And it was time anyway. The torch needed to be passed.

It was time to pass the torch, but I'd of preferred it at regular season, not a direct finals conflict, man oh man did I hate MJ and the bulls after that finals loss.

I didn't help that my cousin next door became a bulls fan after that, I always cut his MJ cards in half when he wasn't looking.

Magic was my hero man, to see Jordan walk away with that trophy....I was more pissed than my dad, I actually got whooped because I wouldn't shut up about it.

then to had insult to injury, the aids retirement, you can only imagine how crushed I was and how much more I hated MJ, to me it was as if MJ gave Magic aids.

This is why a bench is SOOOOOO important...............

Injuries are a part of Sports.....To win a Championship takes a few elements....you need Great Players, Great Offense & Defense...............these are a given.....

But 3 Factors ALWAYS Loom Large to win any Championship:

Namely, Playing your best ball at the right time, staying healthy, & being a little lucky.....

One of Worthy's best years statwise. Lakers at full strength could have done it.

Yeah, I even sometimes go to my dad for basketball advice as he's forgotten more about the game than I could ever remember and actually played against some of those players that I can only watch on youtube and imagine how great they were not to mention growing up with and being best friends with and going head to head with Bill Walton

But he was there through all those games and I straight up asked him if the Bulls would have beaten the Lakers in 91 if Worthy wasn't injured, he as big a basketball fan as he is just gave me a flat out "No." and left it at that.
