I know there are 1000 news and rumours right now about getting the Zenmaster, which we ALL love, back or DAntoni but Im pretty sure the Lakers could find a new ryhtm with Bernie Bickerstaff. I know he is not the youngest and he doesnt chant against the players but he did a solid job against the warriors and just let our Lakers play their game which they love.

They ran up some princetown basic sets and that is basicly it. He brought Meeks finally, out of this [expletive]ing Doghouse and he trusted Darius Morris too! Plus I know its just the Warriors but their are still a good young team to beat.

I know I am the only one who has trust in this, anyway, if we get Phil at the end of the day, in which im really optimistic, then at least let Bernie be a Co-Coach with Phil.

What do you think?

I like Bernie and he shows better rotations and he's great at working with young talent, but we'll be taking Jackson or D'antoni over him.

However I'd love for Bernie to stay as an assistant in some way shape or form, he really does seem to get it as far as our younger players go.

He also didn't play Ebanks tonight cause of that whole DUI situation probably(punishment) which shows how he is a take no BS type of coach. The kind that demands respect of his players.

I have all the respect in the world for Bernie, he's a no nonsense old school coach with an old school mentality and brings a lot of character to us and is a blue collar grind it out battle for 48 minutes coach and the team DEFINITELY responded well to him effort wise.

He'll be replaced, but I do hope he stays with the organization in some way. Nothing but unlimited respect for the guy and his old school mentality. NBA needs more of it imo.

The Lakers need a championship-caliber coach as Magic said. No more experiments, please. Bring in a great all-around coach.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Yeh it was 1 game. Lakers need someone that can definitely produce results. No more "experiments" aka Mike Brown. We need SLoan or Jackson, proven systems and coaches that have worked and WILL work. Simple as that :D

It's funny how much better we are under someone that was on the end of the coaches and won a game and is tied for wins with mike brown

It is a possibility that he can stay but the chances are little to none

How about no  Dude is old and his claim to fame was the 1987 Supersonics, when they made the Western Conference Finals. Guess who he has taken out by

Love his sense of humor and personality, such an old school mind. I do hope he sticks around with the Lakers in some way shape or form after Jackson/D'antoni gets here, he'd do good working with some of the younger talent.

And somebody asked me in the gameday thread to link Bickerstaff's post game comments bout our team and turnovers etc? I forget who it was but if he finds his way to this thread here you go

http://www.nba.com/l...1109mov-2289183

The line about morris needing to "take a little sugar off his game" isn't there though sadly :(

old school :81:

Got to say though, I loved his rotations out there he definitely has a mind for the game that does us well.

That said Phil or Dantoni will replace him. But till that time we couldn't be in better hands or a better coaching mind than Bernie to handle us till then.

Again, can't say it enough, world of respect for the dude dating all the way back to when I lived in Charlotte.

Hope he stays around as an assistant or something when Phil or D'antoni arrive.

He defiantly had a good coaching debut last night. That's the Laker team we should have seen in the 1st 5 games. But this will be an interesting week to say the least.
