Wow I didn't think they'd fire him so soon, well I'm glad they did I don't think he's a competent head coach, now we better not hire D'antoni or I'd be pissed

It may be the earliest we've ever fired someone, but he sucked last year too. His rotations have been terrible and the team clearly isn't buying into his system, or lack of.

My guess is that the 6 game stand news was something the Lakers put out there so that they could find a replacement. I'm guessing firing him before then means they have someone?

@WojYahooNBA
In the past two weeks, Mike D'Antoni had a knee replacement surgery and isn't on his feet yet, sources tell Y!

@Mike_Bresnahan
Asst. Coach Bernie Bickerstaff will coach tonight's game vs. GS but the Lakers will conduct a national search to replace Mike Brown.

Bucher:

Mike D'Antoni makes a world of sense as next HC of LAL. But told he had knee surgery last week and is laid up for 6 weeks.

The sooner the better. Nice decision. I wish Brown the best though.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Don't think the Lakers would fire MB if they knew D'Antoni would be out 6 weeks. I see someone getting hired before the week ends.

Scott Howard Cooper

Remember, Lakers players were clear about wanting Brian Shaw to replace Phil Jackson. Shaw is now a Pacers assistant.

Better now then later, will give the replacing coach more time to settle in and give the team a better direction.

@KBergCBS
With Chuck Person in interim mix for Lakers, league source points out that whomever it is will have "Phil or D'Antoni hot on his heels."

And how many rings did his Steve Nash led 7 seconds or less offense produce, hell it hasnt even gotten them a single Finals appearance. And Steve is bordering on 40, he can't sustain that kind of play, neither can Kobe.
