Makes sense up until the point where it says we get Jerebko. Can't play defense and can't stretch the floor.
We are still left with a hole at PF

So we would get Ariza, Williams, JJ Barea and Jerekbo and all we'd be giving up is Pau and Duhon? Barea is an upgrade over Duhon, Williams isn't an upgrade over Pau but Ariza would be an awesome bench player for us. We'd still have a hole at PF though unless people wanted to find someway to stick Metta at the 4 which I don't see.
It is an alright trade that would strengthen our bench tremendously and give us a lot of young talent to work with but it wouldn't be the BIG story. However if it's all that's on the table I don't mind it too much. Everyone can play in D'antoni's system except Jerekbo. And honestly getting JJ Barea while Blake and Nash's return is in question is helpful.
It's alright and I'd take it if it's ALL we had, but till then I'm still holding up hope for Smith.
If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.

Alright so what do we get?
Barrea: We get a point guard that can create his own shot and can run the offense well while being able to score.
Ariza: who can also create his own shot and is already proven as a good defender for us and would add more defense to our bench unit.
Derrick Williams: Unproven but a high potential and could thrive in this offense and it could appeal to his style of play and would take advantage of his athleticism, can score.
Jerekbo: No idea about him.
What does it add to our bench? It makes our bench this
Barrea
Meeks
Ariza
Williams
Hill
IF our starting lineup is
Morris
Kobe
Metta World Peace
Antawn Jamison
Dwight Howard
Well our bench DEFINITELY gets deeper while not losing a key piece and we get some shot creaters and allows us to play Jamison at the stretch 4 spot in the starting lineup. Or we could switch him and WIlliams around though I'd keep Williams coming off the bench.
Defensively our bench becomes better, and gets more scorers.
It COULD work if Williams pans out but it does deepen our bench in a major way.So Like I said,
I'll take it if it looks like getting Smith is out of the question.
One thing is for sure, everyone would probably be able to run D'antoni's offense.

That being said, however, I don't like their 3 yr contracts. Lakers are primed to create another super team in 2014, acquiring those guys, would mean delaying it for another year... the same year when Kevin Love can opt out of his contract
still not as stacked as 2014 though

Like that trade actually. It makes the Lakers a really deep team.

In a way it is a good trade it does deepen our team by a lot and upgrades each position of our bench and allows us to give Hill more minutes.
I actually like that trade because of how much it deepens our team.
The only issue is when Blake gets back what happens to Barrea.
I guess D'antoni will have to switch up lineups some more but Barrea is an upgrade over Duhon.
But our team gets a lot younger and a lot more athletic and like I said if that is what's on the table ant ATL still isn't biting then it is a trade that helps our bench.. a LOT.

It says D'Antoni does not like all the rumors, Pau is not to be touched, Gasol is an important piece in the project we are constructing.

Pau Gasol could join Ricky Rubio at Minnesota Timberwolves
It seems ESPN.com, backed up by information from reporter David Aldridge, has let the cat out of the bag. Negotiations are taking place involving the transfer of Spanish basketball player Pau Gasol. The L.A. Lakers' power forward could be joining the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he would join up with fellow countryman Ricky Rubio.
The Wolves are also set to sign Kim English from the Detroit Pistons.
The Lakers would acquire the services of Derrick Williams and J.J. Barea (Timberwolves), Trevor Ariza – who would return home from the Washington Wizards - and Jonas Jerebko (Detroit Pistons).
The Wizards will snap up Charlie Villanueva (Pistons), Nikola Pekovic (Wolves) and Chris Duhon (Lakers), whilst the Detroit Pistons will sign Emeka Okafor.
These are turbulent times at Lakers. The team's poor start to the season has already led to the dismissal of coach, Mike Brown. Mike D'Antoni's style of play requires a different type of player and Pau Gasol once again seems to be surplus to requirements.

dantoni was also recently quoted saying , if the pieces dont fit then u get pieces that do
"The West aint close, now that the LAL got Dwight, who gon stop him on OKC!????" - Chris Webber (nba tv -August)
Big 4s are OVERRATED. you think Nash/Kobe/Dwight cant carry the whole Offensive load!?
(Peace Pau we need pieces, not MettaWorldPieces!!!!!!!!)
