Gasol isn't worth just williams.

We aren't giving up Gasol unless we got a healthy Rubio or Love. Not gonna happen. Derrick Williams was viable when they also had Beasley. But just Derrick Williams by himself? No. Although he's shooting better from 3 this year his overall field goal percentage is down to about 35%. He'd add youth athleticism and probably more help on defense, but a starter for us no.

You NEED to get a starter with the product if you're trading Gasol. It's as simple as that.

You get Josh Smith because he's a good player a good defender and a legitimate starter. Because of Pau's contract you can also pick up an additional shooter from the Hawks.

Getting Smith + an extra shooter for our bench trumps getting two bench players for Pau.

People were crazy here about Blake and Meeks look how that turned out. Never wanted either here I agree 100% with you.

Smith is overrated. I'm not crazy about Pau but he's a better fit than Smith next to Dwight. Only Pau trade I approve is for Kevin Love and that isnt happening.

jamsion paired with a 100% dwight will be fine. jsmith is just as short as jamison, and may be a better help defender by far, but he will get bullied in the post too

THAT is the main thing that we need, and Dwight isn't 100% right now so we can't start putting Jamison at the 4 because Dwight will "eventually" get there.

Josh Smith would be bullied a lot less often in the post than Pau and he wouldn't give up his position as easily either, and will also play better help defense which will help Dwight out TONS and also give us an extra defending rotation so that Dwight wouldn't have to rotate every single time.

You have metta at the 3, Smith at the 4, Dwight at the 5. The 4 and 5 capable of defending either side of the basket and also available for switches depending on the assignments.

Pau DOES NOT switch, is late on his rotations and does not give any effort on the defensive end as soon as someone takes one step to the left or to the right.

You see what Hill did when Pau let someone run by? He made the switch and blocked the shot. That's pretty much what Smith would do but he'd be doing it off a much better defender actually giving effort.

Tell me with an honest face that Smith and Howard(even not at 100%) would allow the Kings to score 50 points in the paint? His rotations and defense alone would prevent the mismatches that Pau created because of his lack of defense and effort on that end and would help our paint numbers.

In all honesty in our halfcourt outside of the paint and on the wing we're defending rather well, it's when they get to the paint and Pau REFUSES to rotate EVEN when he is right beside the guy that they get easy buckets because Dwight is doing what he's supposed to be doing when he rotates. Dwight will rotate but Pau doesn't and it costs us points inside all game and teams are starting to take advantage of it and exploiting us because of it.

With Smith that WOULD NOT happen and teams would have to beat us with jump shots instead of exploiting our defensively weak 4.

It would be a HUGE deal having Smith on this team strictly on his defense alone since that is where we're being hurt. Pau never switching and causing mismatches because he refuses to play defense is causing teams to destroy us on the inside and that's on Pau.

With Smith that doesn't happen and whether or not his offense is on he would stop teams on defense and that is vital and needed.

Kobe at the 2, Metta at the 3, Smith at the 4 and Howard at the 5 is the scariest defensive 2-5 lineup in the league at that point.

To act like Smith's impact on our team would be "miniature" or not matter that much is probably one of the biggest misconceptions ever.

Jamison underperforming as that '2nd scorer' on our bench hurts us as well. If Jamison was getting even 8 per game we'd be doing wonders better so an extra scorer for our bench wouldn't hurt at all especially if you're adding Smith to the starting lineup.

Our bench is a problem mainly because Jamison can't hit a shot and that's a majority of it believe it or not.

If Jamison was getting 10 points per game our bench wouldn't seem like such an issue, but he isn't. Give our bench one extra scorer and the problem becomes a lot smaller, and adding Smith to our starting lineup gets rid of a LOT of our woes on the interior defensive end and THAT is where teams are hurting us so much.

1.jamison was not meant to be a shooter for our bench, which you said he was, but then you said he was supposed to be our bench's 2nd scorer(which is the truth)

2. you admit that our bench needs a 2nd scorer, a shooter will not be that. a shooter will thrive with Nash,a shooter most often wont thrive with our bench(ask jodie effing meeks)(HE IS OUR SHOOTER) the bench needs a playmaker(was supposed to be Jamison).

3. kobes minutes will continue to be too high, as long as our bench is wack. so, the bench needs to be fixed to keep his minutes down, and thats what i want to do,,,you want to keep the bench below average and therfor keep kobes minutes up.

4. if we dont move Jamison or Hill into our starting Pf slot, Jamison will continue to be a waste of a pickup(playing SF)

that lineup would be better than our starting lineup now(for this team ran by nash) , plus thorton and isaiah would make our bench great. if we get some depth on the wings, metta can play less(kobe at the 3), and kobe can play less(better bench=less minutes) , and Jamison would play the position where he had twenty 20point games where he shot 45% or more last season(66game season).. OUR TEAM WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER with all the above.

improve the bench and we're the best team in the league. cmon son, our bench is our weakness alot more than Pau is ,and everyone knows that. id be down to trade for Josh Smith if we could steal Devin Harris to help lead our bench........... .. but thats unlikely

Give me one extra shooter, and one more player who can dribble penetrate. Barbosa might have been nice. We should have held onto Barnes too. Water under the bridge though. This front office thought its work was done after they got Nash and flipped Drew for Dwight. Putting together meaningful supporting cast isn't something that they appear to have invested much thought in. They just went out and found some guys who could score (Jamison/Meeks) and thought that plugging them into the second unit would mean extra points.
