What about our defewse going from 22nd to 15th in the league. What's that an indication of?

And how many of those 22 losses came at a time when 2-1 was a .500 record when we had no identity whatsoever?

We also aren't 11 losses from the playoffs we're 3 so again if we were as bad as u keep thinking we still are we wouldn't be close to the playoffs now.

 

So, a middle of the pack defense is good?

 

Well, that record against winning teams is for the ENTIRE season. So, that means they're still losing to them. They have a 2-4 record against winning teams this month.

Phoenix isn't a winning team.


We have a 2-3 record against winning teams this month.

The three were boston, miami and the clippers.

Miami and the clippers are top in their divisions and we avenged the celtics loss(phoenix too)

Losing to miami and the clippers is nothing to be ashamed of at all. And if those are the winning teams we've lost to then I'm not terribly concerned because we've also beaten OKC and New York so it can go both ways.

Fact is we've found ourselves.

We went 5-11 In January to 11-4 hopefully 12-4 in february. You don't do that without a turn around regardless of what teams you're facing.

Even when we lost in january against .500 teams let's look at who they were.

Miami twice, OKC and san Antonio(without Dwight or Pau), Memphis, the Clippers and Houston, Denver.

So the top 4 teams on BOTH sides and one on the cusp(Houston)

These aren't the guys we look at, at the time we were just looking to contend with them till we'd figured it out.

By the time we played Utah, we had.

We beat Utah and then OKC

Lost Dwight against the Suns and lost, then came back and won twice without him and then lost Pau at the end of the Brooklyn game, then played the celtics without him and got beat.

Then we trades wins and losses beating teams we are expected to beat but losing to the Clippers and Miami and finished the month strong, putting both Dallas and Portland who were fighting us for position behindus.

Then we took tired legs into denver and even in losing shot over 55 percent and over 100 points, none of this appeals to you?

We've found a working method and when remaining healthy are rough to beat.

But again I say we need to beat the wolves today.

Finding a way to beat bad teams is better than where they were when they were losing to even bad teams. But, It's still not good enough.

Denver was an expected loss because one it was on the end of a back to back and two denver has only lost twice at home and is a top half team in the league.

Right now we're trying to be a 6-8th seed and playing like a top seed by the time the playoffs begin.

Any wins against the top 4 teams of any division is nice but where we were, we were hoping to contend. The teams we must beat are the ones below us and 6-8 above us.

Closing out the season we'll be looking to beat the top teams consistently and we'll have our chance. But right now we need to be better than a 6-8th seed. Which is miles better than where we were prior.

And we ARE improving to that. Which is all we can ask for this month.

We have to go 13-3 or 12-4 in March. Which is possible if we kept improvement as we went 11-4 in February(hopefully 12-4 tonight)

But all teams currently in the playoffs in the West are above .500. I get what you're saying. Their overall record is good this month. And, beating bad teams is better than losing to them like they were before.

 

But, I'm not going to believe they can beat good teams until they actually do so on a consistent basis. Beating those kinds of teams is a lot different than beating sub .500 teams. A lot of the time, sub .500 teams beat themselves.

_{I guess it all depends on what period you measure from and who you played.  A 10 game stretch is a common measuring stick.  Assuming a win tonight, the Lakers will have gone 6-4 in their last 10.  In that stretch, we have lost to every team with a winning record, except the Celtics, who are just above .500 (which is not all that hot in the East).}

You might think this is a bad trade, but I would give Pau up for a guy like Patrick Patterson at this point. Good defender, can score literally anywhere at a high percentage, and he's a young guy.

 

His outside shooting gives dwight a lot of room to operate in the paint.
