We got CP3 the guy Stern put in charge signed off on the deal and CP3 was on a plane to Los Angeles.


It was a move that would have put the Lakers under the salary cap and made it very easy to sign Dwight as well while still staying under the tax.

Buss and Kup had mastered the new CNBA the day it came out.

Other GMs got pissed and whined at Stern.

Stern nixed the deal.

I think the topic should stay open. To be honest, our season is close to over and we'll be left to talk about nothing but the future. Trading Pau is part of that.

Pau's future depends on whether or not they want to keep D'Antoni.

If they keep D'Antoni, Pau is gone. If Phil somehow gets back, they probably keep him.

phil isnt coming back and im pretty sure MDA has nothing to do with pau coming back or not. It has to do with if we can get a good offer or not

If they're rolling with MDA and Dwight next season, they will trade Pau. No question about it.

The thing is, they may not be able to re-sign Dwight. One way to make Dwight stay would be to either fire D'Antoni and/or somehow get Phil Jackson back into the organization - perhaps not even as a coach.

Obviously, Jim would prefer to keep Dwight AND MDA, but it may not be up to him.

And firing another coach when we're doing well or if we finish the season well won't entice Dwight to stay. If the Lakers acted like a panic organization that kept restarting whenever something bad happened It would make Dwight wqant to leave quickly.

If we ran business like we got the long term plan in mind that will succeed and don't be quick whenever we hit a bad patch and show the calm and demeanor of an organization thats won so many championships he'd be more willing to stay.

Well, it also takes a great organization to admit they made a mistake. D'Antoni was clearly a mistake, and Howard doesn't like him. So, it would probably help with getting him to stay.

 

The front office made the wrong hire. It's a lesson that everybody here should learn: Change needs to be the right change. Firing Mike Brown wasn't wrong, but they replaced him with somebody worse.

 

I honestly haven't seen much improvement with the Lakers. Again, the Clippers beatdown was just 5 games ago. They have twice as many losses as wins against +.500 teams. All indicators point to the Lakers still being a bad team.

What about our defewse going from 22nd to 15th in the league. What's that an indication of?

And how many of those 22 losses came at a time when 2-1 was a .500 record when we had no identity whatsoever?

We also aren't 11 losses from the playoffs we're 3 so again if we were as bad as u keep thinking we still are we wouldn't be close to the playoffs now.
