Gasol Doesn't Blame D'Antoni For Sticking To His System

Pau Gasol has a cordial relationship with Mike D'Antoni, but they continue to be in disagreement about his role with the Los Angeles Lakers.
"It's hard to know personalities if you don't get in touch with them," said Gasol.
Gasol and D'Antoni met for dinner a few weeks ago in an attempt to improve their understanding.
"It was an effort on our part to try and come to an understanding," Gasol said. "But I don't think it's translated to an understanding. Nothing significant has happened; it's probably even gone a little backwards."
Gasol was asked if D'Antoni and Dwight Howard remain with the Lakers next season how would he react.
"It would be hard for me to deal with another season knowing the facts you just mentioned," said Gasol.
Gasol doesn't blame D'Antoni for how he has used him.
"He has his philosophy and system, and the Lakers hired him," said Gasol. "It's not his fault.
"His philosophy is to play with one big guy and four guys spread out, so then he had to make a decision: Dwight or Pau?"
Gasol believes that a different style would allow him to dominate the interior with Howard.
"I believe 100% if I was starting inside with Dwight we could make the playoffs. I just don't know if coming off the bench gives the team a chance to be better and win more games."
Gasol has one more season remaining on his contract.

Pau should stop [expletive]ing and be willing to do whatever is best for the team. Dude is our of his prime, declining physically and his health (knees) are a concern.
As soon as Dwight is ready to step in the starting 5, Gasol better embrace the center pos coming off the bench, because he obviously wasn't satisfied with his role as a forward in the starting line-up.

We're winning more frequently with him coming off the bench. We beat OKC with it, we won 4 out of the last 5 games and we've played better basketball since then. He needs to shut up and let Clark shine. Clark is a better starting power forward for the team. What Gasol is saying is "screw success, put Clark back on the bench and start me!!".

He's coming off the bench but he was still playing starter minutes. Shut the freak up Pau.

Seriously Pau there is no pleasing him, he ALWAYS will find something wrong.

He was unwilling to post but wanted more touches, he complained about being a power forward cause center ewas his natural position. He now has a pivotal role and is being played as a center first and a power forward second WITH important minutes AND post touches AND well spread time with dwight on the floor.

And HE still complains because he isn't starting center. SHUT UP!

Pau is the kind of guy that would be happier if we were losing as long as he was starting rather than we are winning and he's coming off the bench. Dude you are still geting 25-30 mins a game with most of the time 10+ shots. I will tell you right now you are lucky to just get that. He should be getting only 20 mins with 5 shots at most.

Well lets see here. When were losing but he is getting playing time we here of no problems with the guy. He isnt complaining he isnt saying anything. We go 4-1 but he isnt playing and now we here him complaining everyday. Just going off from what Im hearing.

Dwight or not, Phil Jackson or not, Mike D'Antoni or not, Pau has not been a reliable player on either side of the floor. Its championship or bust. He hasnt put in a championship level effort since 2010. So he needs to think twice before uttering nonsense like this or he might find himself at the bottom of the league being irrelevant

Dont forget the Lakers already traded him once, they wouldn't hesitate trading him again

And look at the timing of his comments. Hes been playing Center, hes doing well coming off the bench and the team is like 5-1 in their last 6 games. FU Pau.

That comment there really pisses me off. We are 5-1 with you off the bench. When you were starting with dwight were were 8 games under .500. Pretty sure its a 0% chance we would make playoffs.

edit: Actually were 4-1 with pau coming off the bench. Oh and that 1 lost is when dwight went out and pau had to play the center positon for the last 6 minutes in the suns game. We were up by 8 at that time btw.
