These last 48 hours may very well have been pau gasol's swan song.
Pretty much proved he can't be a consistent player in this "new" style.
What we do with him may depend on Dwight's status.

Depending on if Dwight stays or not, maybe the Lakers are willing to take on a contract that lasts past next season for the right player. I don't think you take in any contract longer with Dwight gone. But, guaranteeing you get a nice piece alongside Dwight instead of completely relying on FA sounds nice.
It's the only way I can make sense out of how they've played things so far. Still, they could've looked into trading Pau for equal money and contract length that helps the team.

Pau is worse than cancer. Idk whats worse than cancer but whatever it is, THAT'S WHAT THIS TRASH CAN IS!So after a day and a half of whining about his cuirrent predicament he gets ample opportunity to back it up and blows it... While being a distraction in the locker room to boot and not backing it up on the court.
This guy is a 19 million dollar cancer.

I think that's really the only reason he"s not been moved. Hill is out, and Dwights health is in question every other game
If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.

Ooh, here's the article. So conflicting reports.I remember another one saying Mitch declined

The Hawks called this summer to inquire about a Smith-for-Gasol trade.
The Lakers said no thanks.
They would probably be a lot more receptive now.

We are incredibly bad at defending the rim when Dwight is out of the game.
That's all I need to say.
Guess that's why it'd be Josh Smith or bust.

Maybe Smith or bust until the deadline.
Otherwise he should be traded in the offseason.

He is just utter garbage out there. One or two nice passes from the high post just doesn't cut it. I take any deal where we get good value. Dwight injured or in foul trouble? Doesn't matter if we have Gasol or not, he's not making a damn bit of difference on either end of the floor. He's clearly incapable of playing like a big man at this point.

Absolutely pitiful. Gortat wasn't even in the game to close out the 4th, he had Luis freakin' Scola on him. Oh, I'll just whine and complain about post touches all year then refuse to post-up. His interior defense was non-existent, that Beasley fumble drive was just embarrassing, and his screen-and-rolls were terrible. He didn't even roll, just waddled like 3 feet away. Didn't shed Kobe's man and didn't do anything to clear the floor on that end.

I wish this game wasn't nationally televised so I couldn't watch that filth. Definitely having nightmares.

Pau's help D may have been awful, but the perimeter defenders on our team have to keep them from getting into the paint at times. They couldn't do that either at the end.
The Suns are one of the worst teams in the NBA, and one of our levels of defense should have been enough to beat them.
