I still dont think he will be traded mainly cuz he will be worth much more in the offseason. I think the FO has marked this as a done season and are just gonna try to reload in the offseason. I dont blame them right now.

He averaged 41% shooting those first 5 games with 13 points a game. Not exactly balling.

I still don't see the logic in waiting until the offseason to trade Pau.

A team trading for him because he's expiring would most likely want the Lakers to take on a big contact, which isn't happening. The Lakers don't have the assets along with his expiring to get something great.

What are some examples of great players getting traded for just expirings? Pau was traded for expirings, draft picks, and the rights to Marc Gasol. Pau's expiring by itself isn't going to attract anything that the Lakers would want to sacrifice their 2014 cap space for.

It's not just to save this season. I don't think his value is going to get any better.

Could the Lakers not wanting to take back long term money simply mean they're not willing to take on a "Chris Duhon" type contract for the filler players in the trade, but for the prize player in the trade, contract length doesn't matter?

Even the Lakers - flush with cash - don't want the tax burden of Dwight Howard (assuming he signs), Kobe Bryant and a third massive salary.
