If the Lakers want to try that pipe dream of getting something very valuable for expiring contracts though, they could still trade for other contracts with 2 years remaining on them.

I suggested the Lakers should get Okafor and Ariza awhile ago. They both have 2 years remaining(assuming Trevor will take his player option next season).

I think that's closer to Pau's value these days. No way they get somebody like Paul George or Rudy Gay.

Don't buy the excuses/reasons, still can't accept that this guy couldn't even stomach it enough to be at the game tonight and support his teammates.

If you were listening to the Pre game show. He has to be away from loud noises - bright lights etc. hence he wasn't at the game. Doc's orders, not his.

^ I did, hence why I mentioned the still don't buy the 'excuses/reasons'. Beto Duran even took a shot at Pau mentioning how Jordan Hill in so much pain barely able to move was still there on the bench tonight to support his teammates.

Pau deserves a lot of blame for how he's been playing this season, but I wouldn't put blame on him for this.

He has concussion that's serious enough to have kept him out this long. I fully believe the doctors told him not be at the game. He's usually at games when he's been injured in the past, including this season when he missed games because of his knees.

Celtics Making Pierce Available In Trade Talks

The Boston Celtics have made it known in exploratory trade talks with other other teams that Paul Pierce could be available via trade, according to team executives around the league.
Only $4 million of Pierce’s $15.3 million salary is guaranteed next season.

Lakers need to get young and athletic instead of old and burnt at every position. Best way to do it is to rebuild around Dwight and let the contracts expire or trade them for young guys if available. They made some bad moves with personnel and coaching and it will take some time to fix. Chasing a title again next year only puts them further behind. Kobe won't win another ring, at least not on the Lakers.

I think the Lakers can get younger without completely mortgaging right now. You don't get players like Kobe very often. You need to try and win when you do. He's still one of the best players in the game right now, and replacing him won't be easy. Kobe and a 100% Dwight should be a good enough core to compete next season. They just need to have the right supporting cast.

Try to get younger by taking in contracts that expire next season.

Why would a GM trade expiring contracts of young guys, for non expiring contracts of old guys? Are they fans of the team or something.
