Sure, but Varejao is putting up his numbers against starters, while Jordan Hill is playing against other bench players...and even then, there's a question as to whether or not Jordan Hill could even sustain that level of play for 36 minutes (or more). A lot of players fizzle out after 20-25 minutes of play, which is why many are benched for most of their careers.Per 36 minutes their stars are pretty much the same, actually.

I dont care that they have similar stats. Varejao and Hill are NOT the same.
Varejao is one of the best defenders in the league, Hill isn't.
But a frontcourt with Varejao and Howard probably is going to be quite good defensively...

Jordan Hill would get that chance if a certain power forward finally went to the bench where he belonged
If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.

According to ESPN, the Raps are shopping Bargnani, which is old news. What's new is that they are shopping Kyle Lowry as well and they (ESPN) are saying that the Raps would like to package Lowry and Bargnani for an all-star caliber player. Gasol?
IMO, Calderon and Barg is a no-go, but Lowry and Barg....i think i would do that. Lowry is among the best defenders in the league and when Howard gets healthy he'll cover some of Bargnani's flaws. Bargnani probably fits better in D'Antoni's system than Pau.

The Raptors are more likely to go after DeMarcus Cousins over Pau Gasol, if they are looking for a big. Truth is, Gasol's all-star days are long gone, doesn't matter what team he's playing for, and every GM knows that.
And I find it hard to believe Toronto is looking to deal Lowry for someone like Gasol, anyway, because as it stands, they are one of the hottest teams in the league since Bargnani fell to injury, winning eight of their last nine games (and probably nine of their last ten, since they are playing Sacramento next). The price for Lowry + Bargnani would have to be high.
