So its 7.3m a year instead of 6, He's still lowballed imo.

7.3 for 3 years
compared to
9.6 for 3 years

Not that much if you consider the fact that San Antonio was probably offering less and that he's on a contending team now and the fact the difference is only 2.3million, which is a fraction of what he made the last few years. He's at the point in is his career where he's able to take a little less if it's the difference between being on a contender or not.

It was 9.6 for the 3 year deal and it was 10 million + for 2 years. Those were the two deals on the table for Gasol.  so 20-21 for 2 years or 29 for 3 as far as has been said.

Did Kobe call you? Gasol: We were in touch during all those days. Then, when I made the decision, I called him. Q. How did he react? Gasol: He was sad. We're true friends. But he understood that it was a difficult decision and he told me he would always support me. We have a relationship that goes beyond basketball. Our friendship is forever. He told me he will always be there and I will always be there for him, of course.

Well that makes me a bit said. Rock on with that friendship Black Swan and Black Mamba! :rock:

Good luck Pau.

Watched you help the lakers way more than you hurt them.

Class act.

Hope to be at game when lakers retire your number...as im beginning to love the ceremonial stuff even more than games after so many.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick!, 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Nope), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Still waiting, wow)

These two deserve the F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme.

Gasol said letting Kobe Bryant know he was leaving was difficult. "We'll always have a friendship. But he was very supportive & understood."

@NickFriedell (ESPN Chicago)
Thibs said he may try out "Jumbo" lineup of Noah, Gasol, Gibson in preseason -- probably not much in the regular season.

His starting job was already in trouble from Taj Gibsons point of view.  Gasol will be backup 5.
