Eric Pincus @EricPincus 25s

Lakers have renounced the right to Pau Gasol -- and Karl Malone, Brian Shaw, Horace Grante, and a host of others

This sucks, no sign and trade.

It basically means that we wouldn't be able to keep him via bird rights and that we cant do a sign and trade.

Lakers are loyal. Had to release the cap holds now to free up cap space.

Pau's smart. I'd bet smarter about his game, the game, and the Bulls than anyone here. If he chose Chicago, he knows what's what. I'll be rooting for the Bulls in the East. Thanks for being a Laker, and good luck, Pau.

I can't wait to see Pau shoot the puck at a Blackhawks game.

The reason we held onto the salaries of Karl Malone, Horace Grant, etc. was to use them to even out the numbers during trades

A ton of teams do this

Free agent forward Pau Gasol is finalizing a three-year, $22M-plus contract with the Chicago Bulls, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Not too shabby. Majesty was making it sound like it was a one year 6M deal.   Good for Pau for turning down more money to go to a better situation.

So its 7.3m a year instead of 6, He's still lowballed imo.
