I don't think Dwight will have a salary of 25mil, probably more around the 19-21 range

Dwight is gonna get the absolute max, so I believe its $23 mil (it averages out to 25 over 6yrs but starting next yr its $23.....so Dwight 23 + Kobe 30 + Clark 4 + Hill 3.5 + Nash 9 + Meeks 1.5 + Blake 4

And we're already over the cap. Every $1 we go over hte limit and the salaries added on to the total from the players above we're gonna pay a hefty hefy penalty.

Of course if Nash, Pau, Blake is traded plus amnesty World Peace. The team could bring back Ariza, Wall and Favors

Thread is pointless until the off-season.

But yeah...Pau's wore out his welcome.

I always tell myself...what in the hell was the Lakers FO thinking when they approved Kobe's contact....[expletive] is ridiculous no matter how you look at it. I know Mitch kupchak kicks himself everyday from it too.

And who would want a $19 mil dollar player on their team that's not LeBron? But instead is a Declining player who is injury prone.

To be fair kobe alone makes this team probably 5 times as much as hes getting. He is a major reason why people want to buy laker stuff and go to laker games. He's an exciting player to watch. Business wise its technically not a horrible move.

So when Kobe retires, are you going to stay a laker fan? or are you moving somewhere else.

Well my point is laker tickets are worth as much as they are because of him and the people buy a ton of lakers gear because of kobe's great playing over the years. Im a laker fan no matter what but there are many casual fans who will stop paying the high price for laker tickets without players like kobe on the lakers unless they get a new superstar (probably dwight as of now).

It is allot of money probably more than any player other than maybe lebron should get but at the time kobe was the best player in the NBA by far and was winning rings. Thats a tough kind of guy to get a low contract for. Also they had to keep him. Its not like they would ever let him go and his agent knew that.

1. Because he is still top 3 player in game

2. He is a world wide icon.

3. Most well known basketball player in the world

4. He generates more revenue than any other player in the nba

5. He is a legend

Lol really not that hard to think why they gave him the money

But he doesn't play defense and is obviously the main reason we are sucking dick right now... even though we magically started playing like [expletive] when Pau got back two games ago. It's still Kobe's fault. Anyone who disagrees needs to get their eyes checked. Kobe's old just because he can still dominate games at 34 years of age in his 17th season doesn't mean the Lakers should approve his contract. He only brought us 5 rings, so what? He isn't defending players he's backing off of them and leaving shooters wide open even though he has to to provide help often times because Pau is a statue out there and does literally nothing...

Your sarcasm is pretty dry.

All the same, glad that isn't actually your stance after all.

Wow really? I thought it was pretty obvious. Reread it again. I compliment and backup Kobe a couple times while criticizing Pau it's pretty clear

in Mitch I trust . I am done being worried about this team as long as Mitch makes [expletive] happen , I'm ok with it , as long as Jimbo does not get involved .
