That is actually true. If we had garnet we would have won 3 in a row. Maybe more. Gasol did good but he got owned in the 2008 finals and really hasn't done [expletive] sense 2010

Well here's the thing. Bynum was looking great that year but when he was injured we looked done. Then we got Pau and became the favorites.

Has this season not taught you anything? Why count your chickens before they hatch? We could easly had won none.

Josh Smith

Via IBT:

Smith, known as much for his irritable temper and poor shot selection as his high-flying dunks and touch around the basket, has been tied to many trades before, including a possible move to the Los Angeles Lakers.

And Minnesota
Via HoopsWorld

It’s one of the worst-kept secrets in the NBA that the Minnesota Timberwolves would love to have Pau Gasol in their lineup. They had multiple conversations with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, and Gasol’s apparent struggles this season have not dissuaded the Timberwolves in the slightest. Head coach Rick Adelman sees Gasol as the ideal big man to run his Princeton offense, and the team has multiple pieces to send out in an effort to make a deal happen, starting with forward Derrick Williams.

Pretty much. It was Gasols talent and ability to play the 4 and the five that won it those few years because of what he could do inside. I don't see KG bothering dwight the way gasol did and we'd be starting Bynum.

Gasol was a better pickup than KG all things considered. Especially since KG didnt play most of the next season.

I'm not sure who ATL would send out? So mix and match.
Roy will prob never play again, so it's just to match salaries.

^if anyone could squeeze the last years of useful production out of Paul, it would be Addleman or Pops.

And I hope Smith ends up in Phoenix and gets a max deal there with the Suns trading away some of their stockpiled 1st round picks. That will assure that the Suns wont be competitive for many years.

Garnett blew out his knee in 2009.

Getting the younger Gasol made us better for longer.

Umm no, no...I do not want Josh Smith. That means all my big money will be tied up Dwight and Josh going forward. No thanks. Neither has a very refined offensive game, neither can hit free throws, and neither is a proven winner so why put up with the deficiencies? Unless the return for Pau is Kevin Love, I would rather keep Pau, wait for 2014 and take a shot at Lebron, Carmelo, Paul George, John Wall. I mean there is upside in JSmoove and Dwight, both are friends so chemistry would be nice, and the defense would be great. Still not worth giving up our shot at the above free agents.

You have no reason to want Love, then...because he's a bad defensive player, he is a big man that would rather take jumpers (and shoots around 45% from the floor, that's it), and someone who doesn't like to defer much, despite being a very good passer.

Not only that, but Kevin Love's contract reads like this:

2012-13: $13,668,750
2013-14: $14,693,906
2014-15: $15,719,063
2015-16: $16,744,219 (Player Option, which he'll take)

Free agency won't matter if we have Kobe, Dwight and Nash in the summer of 2014, anyway, because those three alone will prevent us from being able to dish out a max contract. Dwight will be at $20+ million (more than that), Nash at around $10 million, and I don't see Kobe taking less than $15 million (which is 50% of what he'll make next season). That's roughly $45 million, and Dwight will be over the $20 million mark, anyway. Again, JUST THREE players...we would have to let everyone else go, have nobody else signed...and it still won't matter.

No max deal for anyone if we have our "big three" still sitting on the roster.

I don't want Smith until he gets off his I want a max contract gambit.

It's possibly just a ploy to push Atlanta into trading him, but even then I don't want a player with an overblown ego on his monetary worth coming aboard.
