Well that certainly gets us "youth" doesn't it...

Let's see the bright side if there is any with that trade let's look...

hmm...

Marcus Thorton or Darius Morris at starting 2(if Kobe is playing the 3)

Upgrade

Aaron Brooks bench point guard over Duhon or Morris
Upgrade

Chuck Hayes, I don't know much about him

Thomas Robinson. 21 year old Power Forward. Energy guy I gather. Not for stretching the floor. No worse than Derrick Williams would be.

So let's see. It certainly improves the backup point guard spot, as well as the starting 2 spot and Thorton can be moved to the 3 at times as well and is an upgrade over Ebanks at that position as well.

So basically the only upgrades would be at the 2/3 starting position which is where Thorton would undoubtedly be and I'm guessing Hill starts

So our lineup would be

Nash
Thorton/Kobe
Kobe/Thorton
Hill
Howard

Our bench would be

Brooks
Meeks
Thorton
Artest
Howard/Hill

With the interchanging lineups and such

Eh.... its ok... just ok. Though getting Thorton and Brooks would surtainly bolster some of the offensive weapons in our starting lineup and the scoring from our bench 1.

But that's about it. We'd miss a bit of depth at bench center, unless Hill/Howard's minutes are increased.

Jamal crawford's shot selection isn't the best either. His shots are bad because he is the only one on his team can create his own shot outside of Jennings. Think about was Kobe shot selection last year that great? No. If you put this guy in an offense where he is the third or fourth option, he would shoot at least 43-46 percent, and at least 33-37 percent from three.

There is a world of difference between Jamal Crawford going isolation one-on-one and Monta Ellis driving into a crowd and throwing up terrible shots. He's been doing that all season long. His shots aren't bad because of his team, it's because he is an idiot. There is a huge difference between the shots that Kobe had to take last year (due to a horrible offensive system) and the ones that Ellis takes (which often go against their system). I'm not sure how many Bucks games you've seen since he's been traded to them (I've watched bits and pieces of about 30 of them), but he jacks up a ton of horrible looks on a nightly basis.

The Bucks are at their best when they share the ball with tons of movement off the ball, and Ellis just doesn't fit that mold at all. He cannot be a 3rd or 4th option on a contending team, he's far too ball dominant. Unless we were to play him like the Clippers do with Jamal Crawford, ditching a system for straight isolation, he just wouldn't work out for us. And that is only possible for the Clippers because aside from Chris Paul they have no ball-dominant players, everyone else is a finisher. That's not the case for the Lakers with the likes of Dwight Howard, Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant on the roster. The only time he'd be able to pound the ball is when any two of those three are resting on the bench. He would have made more sense if we hadn't picked up Nash over the summer.

Dealing for him right now makes zero sense for us when we have far more pressing issues on this roster.

Idc about anyone trying to sway me otherwise. I know what I'm talking about here. Just like you guys don't want Ellis (for dumb reasons IMO) I don't want garbage like Derrick freakin Williams from minny.

Barea = Not trash

Williams = young prospect that is far better than Ebanks and gives us an athletic player off the bench.

Not sure what else you want that gives us a package of good players.

The Minnesota idea does solve most of the Lakers' biggest problems in theory.

I just don't like the Lakers having to rely on another old player. Kirilenko is by far the best player in the deal, and he turns 32 in February. Even if the Lakers have to bring in less talented players in return, I would like to see the Lakers take back players under 30.

I guess I would take it if it's the best available deal.

Yeah, if we're not scoring a home run with a Smith or Anderson, that's a pretty good option.

Insanity at the PG position though.

Oh who gives a [expletive]. If we can steal something like this for Pau who is seemingly declining by the day, you do it.

Yeah, which is why I'd take it if it's the best thing available.

I'd look for other offers though.
