The best part about Peter Mayhew being involved means that his surgeries were successful and he's feeling much better.  That's the real good news behind his hiring.

Despite knowing nothing yet, what words would you like to see for the title of Episode VII? personally I would prefer they don't include ones that have  previously been used such as "Empire" or "Jedi", "Sith" etc.. so something new would be nice.

Probably will be called something like "A New Beginning" or something sinister, like "The Rise of (insert here)"

Have they confirmed or deconfirmed that EU characters will/won't be a part of this?

It will be an original idea and story by Abrams.

Not by Abrams alone.

The script was first fashioned by Michael Arndt, and since re-tooled by both Abrams and Kasdan, with input from a couple others closely involved.  Kasdan is the key here - if he's attached to story telling, odds are it will be nothing but solid and character driven, rather than characters revolving around action, which was but one of the MAJOR faults of the prequels.

I'm wondering what (if any) characters they'll use from the Expanded Universe.

Using the Yuuzhan Vong would make for a good movie.

Introducing Luke's wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, would be cool.

It's one of the biggest kept story secrets in movie history.

They won't use many (or any) characters that will give people any idea of what story they are crafting.

The movie will confirm which stories from the EU are canon and which are not.

I hope they tone down jj Abrams lens flare lol

I read that Chewbacca maybe alive... If that's true and with an old han solo... That means that the war with the vong never happened

And you'll never see it on screen.

Movies are canon, the rest is up for grabs.

Feet of AT-AT's!

Every little bit is awesome to see. So happy a majority of sets and set pieces are being built and its not going to be a green screen digital mess like the prequels.

It appears likely that cast members Harrison FordMark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles from Episodes IVV, and VI along with a cast of younger unknown actors and actresses playing the lead roles.

Set approximately thirty-five years after Return of the Jedi and the demise of Darth Vader, the plot centers around a trio of young leads, along with characters from the previous installments.

:hmm:

That would place the movie somewhere in the Legacy Era...a little bit after the Yuuzhan Vong war.

I think the trio of "young leads" will be Ben Skywalker (son of Luke and Mara) and the twins of Han and Leia: Jacen and Jaina.

As of January 2014, many websites have been reporting that actor Jesse Plemons, best known for his work on Breaking Bad, has become a strong frontrunner to be one of the main new stars of the upcoming trilogy possibly playing Ben Skywalker, Luke's son. On January 19, 2014, Plemons denied the rumors during an interview at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, saying, "Yeah, I think it's just one of those crazy rumors". Abrams, however, confirmed that he personally met and read with Plemons, something he rarely does. Abrams said, "He is one of the actors that we've talked to. It's not often that I read about actors that I'm going to be meeting. I get to read articles about actors who were going to come in, so I get to see someone and say, 'Oh, I read that I was going to see you. It's very nice to see you.' It's usually agents talking to people about what's happening. It's just a lot of noise"

In February 2014, Variety reported that Adam Driver was in negotiations to star in the film as an unnamed villain in the same vein as Darth Vader

And there you have it people. The three main leads will be Ben Skywalker, Jacen Solo, and Jaina Solo.
