They didn't get the right supporting pieces. They hired a bad defensive coach after the Lakers struggled on defense. They've waited way too long to deal Pau Gasol.
It's sad that they continue to ignore how awful the Lakers are defensively.

It's so irritating to watch. These problems have been obvious for a looong time. With Dwight Howard out, they've become one of the worst defensive teams.
I don't know what game they're watching to think that the Lakers would ever be good defensively as is. Struggled under a good defensive coach, hired a bad defensive coach, and expected Steve Nash of all people to fix the Lakers' problems.
This FO deserves to be blamed. They've done everything wrong since getting Dwight Howard. Mitch waiting for Steve Nash to return to assess things put the nail into the Lakers' coffin this season. I knew that was going to be a BIG mistake.
People are gonna say we don't know the offers that were out there. That may be true, but we know that Mitch wanted to see Steve Nash return first before seriously seeing what was out there. That part sickened me when I heard it.

Getting Nash and Howard was great but adding the right players around the starting line up was ehhhhh.
Agreed.
Some people said the FO did their job to perfection. [expletive] no they didn't. They got the big names, and surrounded them with crap. And then the obvious coaching debacle...

There are fans of 29 other teams who also give up hard earned money to watch games and buy merchandise.
