Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968.

Iron Man 3 is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Can't be as bad as "Iron Man 2" - that flick was just garbage.

Didn't think It was garbage. Scatter brained? Yes

But I can still watch RDJ charismatically own the screen, and for me that made the movie watchable

This movie has a better cast than avengers IMO. I can see his easily beating avengers

It's centered around tony, he's gonna have a bigger struggle than ever, and the cast is better

Should be awesome. I can see this being marvels best movie to date.

Racism. The mandarin is considered one of the most racist villains

At least that was the explanation given by the director

Ben Kingsley (Brit) playing an Asian.

Johnny Depp (American) playing an American Indian.

It's a return to the early '50s when guys like John Wayne and Charlton Heston played Asians. Kind of odd to be sure.

who in the hell is shane black to say that? The Mandarin is already Chinese so he's actually making the Mandarin white.

dude hasn't directed a movie since '05

Considering the production is in co-production with china I'm pretty sure this issue was discussed. The studio was also involved as always, at the end of the day everyone had to agree to this

And obviously they all came to the conclusion that the character is racist

"We decided that the villain was going to be the Melter – no, I’m kidding,” added Black as the audience laughed. The director continued, “That’s the problem, isn’t it? Iron Man never really had good villains.” When audience members suggested the Mandarin, Black dismissed it as a racist caricature. The director then said he was not going to divulge any detail about who the villain would be, stating that it was more satisfying to see the movie without knowing everything beforehand.

I didn't read the Iron Man comics growing up but why would Black say that?

I didn't read it either but from what I've read from black he says the character is full of yellow perril which from reading up on the character it makes sense.

I don't buy it.

I think Depp said that to justify his casting in the part. It's still ridiculous when I'm sure there actually are Native American actors out there that could've pulled off the role. They wanted Depp's name to sell it and to dissuade any backlash from the casting they put that out as a press spin.

Anyway, back to "Iron Man 3".
