EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi, it was announced today.

Douglas-Roberts, a three-year NBA veteran out of the University of Memphis, was originally selected by the then-New Jersey Nets in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft. Douglas-Roberts has appeared in 155 NBA games (53 starts) for the Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks, recording career averages of 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20.6 minutes. The 6-7 forward spent the 2011-12 season playing for Virtus Bologna of the Italian League, where he averaged 12.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 27.0 minutes. Douglas-Roberts played in four preseason games for Los Angeles where he averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes.

Somogyi, a 7-3 center out of UC Santa Barbara, played all four years for the Gauchos where he posted career averages of 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 12.2 minutes. In three preseason games with the Lakers, Somogyi averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes.

The Lakers training camp roster now stands at 16 players

Well that sucks. I liked what CDR can bring to this team but Brown didn't give him a fair chance

i would be alot more mad if Jamison wasnt playing the 3, and if Ebanks wasnt playing so well, Ebanks will struggle to find minutes, thats why Brown had a battle for the backup 2. still CDR>ebum tho

Kobe and Randle led Lakers lead the team to a 32-50 record. the Lakers select Myles Turner with the 5th pick.

I have a feeling they'll just absorb Clark's salary, waive him and keep Sacre, Glock and Morris. DJO might be a goner too he's barely played just like CDR

Two more Lakers waived (Chris Douglas-Roberts + Greg Somogyi). Three players fighting for one or two spots: Sacre, Johnson-Odom + Goudelock.

Told you guys. Everyone was so sure he'd make it but the writing was on the wall for him being cut.

Sad to see CDR go because he seems like a great guy, but I'm not complaining. I'm glad this love fest with CDR will end.

I hope they decide on a 14 man roster and just cut Glock and DJO now.

One thing some fans don't realize, that even though we heard he did good in practices or had a nice pre-season game, there are always reasons to why players get cut such as not understanding the offense, understanding defensive schemes or just being inconsistent.

The way I look at it, if this guy was going to be a legitimate bench impact, why let him go? That's a decision made by the coach, his staff, and the front office.

To the defenders he goes.

So its down between Goudelock, Sacre and Darius Johnson-Odom. If it's two spots, It's actually pretty tight between DJO and Goudelock we'll see. Sacre obviously is getting the 14th

Damn it...No words. Our bench offense is atrocious, and we let go of a guy who can actually score!!

He has a great highlight video, so they must have made a mistake.

I favor of an over dribbler and undersized chucker

Great decision

Morris CAN'T get cut. Get it through.

Only Goudelock and DJO and CDR and Somagyi were the ones that could be cut.

Basically its down between DJO and Goudelock now. If they go with 14 it's going to Sacre, which I don't think would be a good choice. If it's 14 and 15 it comes down between DJO and Goudelock. CDR is going to the D-Fenders though, this was stated from the moment he came to camp that if he didn't make the final roster he'd go to the D-Fenders.
