Maybe Robert Sacre isn't so irrelevant after all.

The rookie center out of Gonzaga might make the Lakers' roster after showing some muscle and ability in the exhibition season.

Sacre was the 60th and last player taken in the NBA draft in June, a position known in the much longer NFL draft as "Mr. Irrelevant."

If Sacre is still on the roster for the Oct. 30 season opener against Dallas, it's not a sure thing he'll be on it the rest of the season. He has a non-guaranteed contract that pays him $474,000 and becomes guaranteed the rest of the season only if he is on the roster in early January.

"I'm very impressed," Kobe Bryant said Friday of Sacre. "I really didn't know too much about him coming out of Gonzaga. I know Gonzaga puts out some solid big men but I really didn't know too much about him."

Will the 7-footer make the Lakers?

"Oh yeah, I think so. Absolutely," Bryant said.

Sacre is averaging seven points and 2.5 rebounds in two exhibition games. He started both in place of injured Dwight Howard. The Lakers are short on depth in the frontcourt because reserve big man Jordan Hill sustained a herniated disk in his back. He will be re-evaluated next week.

I wouldn't mind him tbh, seems like he and Nash already got chemistry

I think most of us feel like and hope14th and 15th spots will go to Sacre and CDR.

CDR mostly.

He's seems to be a pretty decent finisher off of the PnR.

Agreed, but then again we got Nash I doubt he'd would've made a team without Nash tho

he has a NBA body
He is almost a lock to make the roster now, lakers were high on him in the Summer league, and he has only looked better.

I think CDR is going to be this years Gerald Green. Where the lakers miss because of money concerns (really regretting buying DJO from the mavs, just wasted money for camp fodder at this point as he and goudelock are near the same player)

He can catch a basketball and finish near the rim. I don't mind at all.

Our 15 man roster this season

Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, Darius Morris
Kobe Bryant, Jodie Meeks, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Andrew Goudelock
Metta World Peace, Devin Ebanks
Pau Gasol, Antawn Jamison, Jordan Hill
Dwight Howard, Robert Sacre

I bolded the inactives

So that's our active 12 man roster and the 3 who I assume will be inactive. Hopefully I'm correct.

Good timing with Hill getting hurt too.

But., I thought he was gonna make the roster even before Hill's injury. He's raw, but there's something there. He can fill in for a couple garbage minutes now and then. Can't teach height!

Do you think he would make the team if we didn't had Nash? I don't
