Wow I've never heard that quick of a recovery from a herniated disk. Those injuries are serious. I hope he is fully healed in a month, but if that's indeed true I'm relieved.

If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.

I wasn't aware of that. People I know who didn't need surgery still needed several months to recover, but I'm not a doctor so I wouldn't know anything more. I'm glad he'll be back soon though

Probably just not that servier of an injury as them. He got lucky I supposeI wasn't aware of that. People I know who didn't need surgery still needed several months to recover, but I'm not a doctor so I wouldn't know anything more. I'm glad he'll be back soon though

Good news on Hill. I actually wonder if he was diagnosed with the herniated disc but after a couple days they saw that the diagnosis was wrong.

like i said , it can vary greatly. sometimes players dont even know they have it if its early on. its extremely common with weightlifters and athletes that lift a lot because that compresses the disks. he should be fine as long as it doesnt effect nerves, thats when it can get to where you cant play.

Im guessing it was a Small Herniated disc which I looked up and siad it takes about the same time that woj reported would take.Merged the new thread with this one. Keep the updates in here.

who knows, though i doubt they would diagnose that incorrectly without knowing. its really not that hard to see with a ct, even an xray/exam can pretty much tell you if you have herniations if they dont show anything else. symptoms can be very specifically telling as well

not with these doctors and with spinal herniations. ct scans , very specifc symptoms, lack of other problems in an xray with pain /tingles ect. its just such a fairly common thing someone might have assumed it initially and then word spread. but i highly doubt a dr that examines a laker would ever diagnose that without being sure. maybe a dr gave an initial opinion without having the use of equipment
at least that what i get from what ive read and from my friend who went to med school to become a spinal cord surgeon
maybe in orlando though we may know that whole story lol

but will he be 100%, fully healed when hes cleared to play. this is a guy who needs to be able to jump 100% to be effeective(not fully effective but,effective) this seems like a jumping big mans injury to me, maybe big man as in 6'6 or above, probly bigger..

Hill played Sunday night and looked fine. He sits on bench with heating pad. 12 hrs later he's diagnosed with a herniated disk - specifically L5/S1. Lakers say they would revisit the injury in a week. Now word comes that he will be back by end of month.
I can only guess that Hill had an MRI early Monday (which is the only way to diagnose this type of problem) and doctors reviewed the results and determined that a posterior herniated disk appeared. A doctor can easily judge the severity of L5/S1 (due to lifting, I had the exact same injury along with L4/5 disc bulge). I'm not sure why Lakers came out with the "week" statement, unless their doctor was on vaca or something.
Usually, it's better to treat with PT than surgery. I went through 6 weeks of PT and started feeling better after 4 weeks, but the pain continued periodically for years. Even today, i feel slight discomfort. But I'm a nobody while Hill is being cared for 24/7 by a qualified staff, so hopefully his results will be way faster (and more permanent) than mine.

No they just found it early. Dwight played on his for a month making it worse
Herniated disks can lose their swelling and go back into place with rest if found early
