One thing that separates Dwight for Andrew is the fact that he takes pride in being the best defensive player in the league while Drew was about his offense.

Yeah Dwight keeps talking about how he's tired of laying the ball up when he's under the basket. But his legs seem to be coming back and he showed more confidence in alley oops as I saw him telling Blake to throw the ball up high after a play where Blake didn't oop it to him and Dwight said "I can get up there" pointing to the sky. He's starting to get some more confidence in his legs.

and his rebounding. dwight also takes pride in his conditioning and playing hard on both ends regardless of what going on in the game. can't say the same for bynum. and oh yeah, dwight want to get better while bynum tells off all time greats who try to help him.

@LakersReporter

Kobe said his sore right foot is feeling a bit better, but the trick is "getting over the hump."

@LakersReporter

Player dvlp coach Phil Handy & @SteveNash are doing a ball-handling/passing drill right now w/no-look passes - Yup, Nash is winning.

@LakersReporter

Basically, Handy & Nash have their hands up facing each other. Can't move feet, must pass ball with one hand back & forth, to either side.

‏@LakersReporter

Dwight Howard, in short, staying on team's message: "We'll be OK."

@LakersReporter

LAL got Gasol looks in post early vs DET & benefitted. Weren't able to do so at Utah. Balancing act not to waste his skill on low block.

@LakersReporter

No real update on @SteveNash (non-displaced leg fracture). He's doing individual, non-contact work outs, but nothing with the team.

Kobe on his foot: "I feel pretty good. (The foot is) feeling a lot, lot better."

"You can't go wrong either way.The fans wanted Phil.But Mike has a good resume, a great offense and he will let us play freely,"-A Jamison

As does Bernie and they respond best to apparently.

Like I said these last two games where we've played free form and in Bernie's style did everything to convince the front office that Mike was best for the job.

When you have a team full of superstars the best thing you can do is let them play freely.

The last 2 game we have dominated to team Who when under Mike brown would kill us.

Mike Trudell@LakersReporter

Kobe credited Jim Buss as playing an essential role (alongside Kupchak) in acquiring Nash & Howard. Buss suggested first call to Nash.

Kobe reserved one of his favorite adjectives to describe D'Antoni, calling him a "bit of an [expletive]." That's high praise from the Mamba

Gasol said today was essentially a simple introduction into D'Antoni's system on O, in addition to his defensive concepts.

Bryant was asked about Magic's comments re: Jim Buss. Kobe said he can only judge what he knows, & that Jim has been "phenomenal".

* @SteveBlake5 says he's a "game time decision" for tomorrow. He hasn't really tested the abdominal area yet.

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
As for tomorrow night's game vs Phoenix, Steve Blake (abdomen) is a question mark, but Jordan Hill (wrist) is probable. Nash out.

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
Steve Nash (non-displaced leg fracture) was not in drills ... But, well, he happens to have a bit of experience with D'Antoni.

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
The Lakers didn't do much physically, but Jordan Hill (wrist) & Steve Blake (strained abdomen) went through drills.

D'Antoni said that the offense won't take long to install, but they should "be a bear" on D, thanks in no small part to Dwight Howard.

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
D'Antoni: "My whole philosophy is 24 seconds or less. I don't care if it's 7 or 10 or 20, we just have to get 1 good shot in 24 seconds."

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
The biggest challenge for D'Antoni: "We didn't have a (training) camp." Key to try and impart system w/out sacrificing wins.

Posted Image Mike Trudell@LakersReporter
D'Antoni: "If you have the best (players), why wouldn't you play the most possessions you can play?" Thinks LAL should avg. 110-115 pts.

I LOVE THIS NEW FORUM!!!! :laughing:
