So my brother comes home tonight to tell me he has bad news about the Lakers and I immediately assume that someone got hurt. But he proceeds to tell me Laker games as well as LA Galaxy games (for anyone who's a fan) and anything else that's shown on Time Warner Sports channel will only be available to those with Time Warner Cable as their cable provider. Maybe this has been known all along but I haven't seen it yet and I read these forums everyday. There is a website where you can go see if these games will be offered by your provider at IWANTMYLAKERS.com. Personally I have COX which is huge in Orange County, not sure if it's in LA much but when I just checked I found that it won't be available to me which is beyond terrible news. So just letting everyone know in case they want to get in touch with their provider and get this all figured out.

By the start of regular season all cable carriers will have it trust me. Both sides have too much to lose to not make a deal by then. They're just trying to get whatever leverage to gain a better deal right now because they got time to play these games

Yeah, it's extremely annoying no doubt, but as MDI stated, this will all more than likely be settled once it really matters (we can only hope) or else there will be absolute chaos and outrage.

My concern is time warner will obviously want money from all other providers to have their channel but how will the cable providers make money in return. Will they just bight the bullet to appease their customers or will they charge us money to have that channel? Hopefully if we have to pay for time Warner sports its not some blown out price.

John Ireland was on the radio the other day and said fans shouldn't worry because negotiations are on going, but it would be a shocker if other carriers didn't get the channel.

Its too much of a money making channel for it to be on one carrier. Fans need to stop worrying so damn much.

I'm changing the title of this thread, pinning it and making it the central place to discuss this Time Warner thing.

No more new threads about this.

Viacom and DirecTV agreed after their channels were down for weeks. As for the Pac-12 Network, I'm still waiting. Impatiently I might add.

I wonder if anyone can answer my question...

I'm moving to Santa Barbara soon and as of this moment, none of the cable providers in the area are planning on carrying the TWC Sports package--which is fine by me because I don't plan on having TV/cable! With netflix and online news sites, there is absolutely no reason to have cable TV anymore. So I'm wondering, IF (and I know it's a big if) none of the cable companies end up striking a deal with TWC, does that mean I can order NBA League Pass Broadband and watch it without getting blacked out in the Lakers TV zone?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this question!

I've had Time Warner for a couple years and it's alright but not the best
I highly doubt other cable networks won't pick up the Lakes channel, they will loose too many customers

Lakers games are among the highest rated programming in California. PAC-12 football is not. Especially when the highest rated PAC-12 team is on national tv 95% of the time.

People will pay for the lakers, people aren't going to pay for washington state, cal, Washington, Colorado college sports

Well if you have faith in /tW bless you they don't give a crap about customers. Leaverage is the game for "new" subscribers" you lose it allowing others to carry an exclusive.

IDK, Dish is still without AMC, so what makes you think DTV and TWC will comply?

This is true. However, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, VH1, Nickelodeon, and Spike are some of the most watched channels on TV and that didn't stop a lengthy negotiation.

Also, for a company who calls themselves the "Undisputed Leader in Sports TV" they should carry the Pac-12 Network.
