The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on guard Joe Crawford and forward CJ Giles, it was announced today.

The Lakers preseason roster now stands at 15.

Still plenty of time to cut Karl... We don't need his terrible play, and it would be good to have that open spot if the opportunity arises to pick up a serviceable free agent...

I thought maybe they'd keep Crawford for roster balance (as in 3 at every spot - technically), but when someone knows the offense and shows the effort Karl has shown its hard to let him go.

I'm happy for Coby - he worked hard for that suit he gets to wear all year.

Yue is a project. I don't know if outplayed is really the right term. Sun is right where Sasha was in his rookie year - awkward and without a direction. That will come.

Karl worked hard out there. I rarely saw Crawford get in the mix on anything. He looked lost on defense and did nothing but plant him self in one spot on offense - not a good thing with Phil and company. The main things in Coby's favor were knowing the offense and his use of motion off the ball. He's the 15th man on the roster, he doesn't need to be the most skilled guy on the team.

The right choice was made.

anyway I would keep crawford over yue but I guess yue got a guaranteed contract for whatever reason.

I still think they might make one more cut to keep the roster at 14, and if they do, it's going to be Coby Karl.

I would think the Lakers will hold onto Karl, send him to the D-League and if somebody becomes available they think can help (which they don't need much of right now) they'll spend the MLE on them and let Karl go before his contract becomes guaranteed.

I think the main reason they kept Karl is because he's already had a year in the system. It's obvious that none of these guys are going to get impact minutes this season, so it comes down to who's going to be a better practice player. Karl has a year under his belt in that role.

maybe so but Coby knows the offense and he actually plays decent defense unlike Crawford who did not know what he was doing on that end. That wat i saw from yesterdays game.

That's probably going to be the case, I hope we find someone decent before Karls contract is guaranteed.

I think it was the right choice, because there are no way that Crawford can develop on the bench.
