The Office’ Will End Its Run on NBC Next Season

Producer Greg Daniels says the NBC comedy will conclude business at Dunder Mifflin after the upcoming ninth season. He said Tuesday that the final year will be exciting and memorable and will take creative chances. And it will reveal who’s been making the mock documentary that has provided the show with its format.

Daniels says, “I think endings can be very powerful.”

Will former regional manager Michael Scott return as a guest? Daniels says he hopes Steve Carell will reprise his role as the socially inept boss, but he isn’t counting on it. Carell left in 2011.

“The Office” was adapted from its British predecessor and premiered on NBC in March 2005.

While its ratings have slipped, it’s still NBC’s highest-rated scripted series.

That is one funny show but since Steve Carrell it just haven't been the same not as funny so its a good choice to end it.

Ahh hope Steve does come back at least for some moments of the final season, but like the article says, unfortunately, I don't really expect it either.

I love The Office, so many great memories watching this show and all the happiness it has brought me, it will be sad seeing it go but I guess the time has come. I hope Steve makes an appearance, no one could ever replace Michael Scott.

It's definitely overrated. Not as bad as fido is implying though.

Simply put, this goes to the 'we all have different taste in comedy' thing. Not every type of humor is for every person.

I pretty much posted the opposite of what fido posted. Triying to be funny, guess it didn't work

I always liked it tho. Pretty much stopped watching when Steve Carrel left, so I can't comment of the show minus Michael Scott.

Absolutely, and different tastes are good, it keeps the market and life vital.

I just can't stand the show and haven't been able to see why people think it's funny since it's first episode. The English original, the one Ricky Gervais starred in (though he does produce the American version), from the little I saw was far superior. But in both cases the show, for me, just get s a big "meh".
