A National Basketball Association survey of club general managers released Wednesday by the league shows top executives like the Los Angeles Lakers to win the 2009 NBA title.

The seventh annual secret vote ahead of Tuesday start of the 2008-2009 season showed general managers expect the Lakers to avenge their loss to the Boston Celtics in last June's NBA Finals by beating them in next year's final.

A total of 46 percent of the league's 30 team decision makers liked the Lakers to take the crown with defending champion Boston next at 19 percent followed by New Orleans at 12 percent.

Good for Trevor getting a mention in there.

Him and Jordan have been crazy good at filling in those passing lanes in the pre-season. You can't make a single slow pass around them. they get their hands on almost every pass that goes flat by them.

If you let go of your Laker bias - most of those percentages are right on.

Add that Drew got 19% to most likely have a breakout season, which was highest.

Yeah that's a good one too.

I don't think Farmar will be that far behind as far as breakout seasons go. The kid is looking ultra-sharp on all fronts right now.

Kobe didnt get mentioned as a good leader thats a bit curios, but overall that was great and pretty dead on
i guess best finisher means going to the basket and not 4th quarter play...new orleans isnt very fun to watch to me...and phil's coaching remains underrated b/c he doesnt ACT he's a coach not a thespian
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

Im sure Phil Jackson is a lot better than people give him credit for in the last 2 minutes of games. Especially when you have had Kobe and MJ on your teams.

Was that a compliment or shot at Phil... I think that Phil put his stars in the position to be the great players they turned out to be

of course it was a compliment. I guess i didnt state it as clear as it should be. Im basically saying that he makes great decisions under 2 minutes because he has had the greatest player in the NBA ever, and the greatest player in the NBA now to rely on.

once again you are fooling with me, but i will say this Phil doesnt always depend on Kobe(or micheal) to make the big shots in the fourth. Fox, fisher, horry, kerr, longley...to name a few

They got accidently the plays were designed for Kobe and MJ, but they were covered and those players got the ball.

how many titles to those guys have w/o Phil... How did thier teams fare without phil... Phil had minimal struggles with limited talent post-Jordan/Shaq... the most dissapointing affair was defeat to pistons...last year the better team won

You guys give Phil too much credit in the 2 minute drill. He's flat-out terrible at drawing up plays to end games. It's always free-throw line stack, everyone cuts opposite directions, Kobe crashes down towards the ball at the elbow and creates from there. No screens, no backdoor cuts, no nothing.

Phil just draws up the same inbounds play, but it seems as if he just tells Kobe "take it from there" once the ball is in his hands. We've complained about this countless times when we've lost games on the last possession, so I don't see how some of you can forget that right now. Must be the off-season.
