This is good!
If the Rockets land Josh Smith, they probably wont be able to sign Dwight, which is good for LA.

Not if Smith, and Dwight take a pay cut to play together.
Would you take a pay cut to do your job? I wouldn't. The only people that take pay cuts are guys who are bigger than the game, like Lebron, and you don't even see that often, Dwight is going to max out wherever he plays.

The Suns "seem to be bowing out" of the Smith derby, according to Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld (via Twitter). I still wouldn't rule out a late push from Phoenix, but it doesn't seem as if the club is the frontrunner at the moment.
The Suns are out.

I haven't done the calculation, but i really doubt that they (Houston) are able to get Smith and still have enough cap-room to sign Dwight.Not if Smith, and Dwight take a pay cut to play together.
I guess it's possible, but they'd have to give up Asik and/or Lin and some of their young guys.

@SekouSmithNBA
Hawks are exhausting all options to ship Josh Smith to the Western Conference. Willing to wait until the final hour to get it done.
ESPN.com's Chris Broussard's sources insist that the Bucks aren't trading Monta Ellis to Atlanta as part of a Smith deal (Twitter link). I could see the Hawks being intrigued by a package that includes Ekpe Udoh, expiring contracts, and picks.

Milwaukee, Phoenix emerging as frontrunners for Josh Smith deal, league sources tell Y! Sports. Boston still a "darkhorse," one source says.

If they trade for smith then yes they could easily but I dont think the hawks woud want asik and his massive backloaded contract.I haven't done the calculation, but i really doubt that they (Houston) are able to get Smith and still have enough cap-room to sign Dwight.

not necessarily. if they trade for smith there would be a cap hold bringing them to around 45-48 million in salaries. Dwight would have to take 13 million a year. it depends who they offer in the trade.If they trade for smith then yes they could easily but I dont think the hawks woud want asik and his massive backloaded contract.

I dont see any way how they would end up with 45-48 next year. They might gain one mill form the trade with him. Right now they are at 40 mill and Im think they will increase smith's payroll a bit but he will not get max. If they give him max they would be crazy Houston is not a big spending team and they would rather let him leave then pay him max. Smith shouldnt even get a pay raise. He really hasnt done much this season to say he is a max player.not necessarily. if they trade for smith there would be a cap hold bringing them to around 45-48 million in salaries. Dwight would have to take 13 million a year. it depends who they offer in the trade.
