Meet Terry Crews and Randy Couture, the rookies of The Expendables 2
Terry Crews, left, and Randy Couture. Even though they’re the new guys, you still don’t want to mess with them. The cast of Sylvester Stallone’s latest ensemble flick The Expendables 2 reads more like a course syllabus for a master class on testosterone-fuelled explosion fests: Schwarzenegger, Norris, Van Damme, Lundgren, Willis, Li, Statham.
Then there’s Terry Crews, better known as the hyper-aggressive Old Spice guy, and Randy Couture, known simply as “The Natural” during his Ultimate Fighting Championship days, where he won a record five championships before retiring at 47.
“We’re the rookies,” Crews is the first to admit during a recent stop at the Toronto Trump Hotel. Along with Couture, he was taken aback by not only by the calibre of the action icons the film was able to attract, but also the stars’ willingness to set their egos aside.
“You’re talking about the biggest action icons of an era, and none of them were so serious that they couldn’t have fun jabbing at each other,” says Couture, who plays the “college-educated warrior” Toll Road. “I think maybe 10 years ago there would have been some problems because they were in direct competition with each other for box office numbers, but they’re all in a place now where their reputations are established. It ain’t going nowhere,” he says.
Crews, who describes his character, Hail Caesar, as “Elmo with a gun,” agrees, saying nobody came to the set with any “sense of entitlement.”
“If anybody could take a day on set and just chill it would be them, and you’d understand,” he says. “But they never did. To me, it was like, ‘that’s why you’re a superstar.’ ”
Both Crews and Couture appeared in the first Expendables and have been acting in smaller parts for the past decade, but they were still happy to sit back and learn from their more seasoned co-stars, especially Stallone.
“Sly wasn’t wearing as many hats this time around, so I think we got a little more one-on-one personal time working with him,” Couture says. “The best thing is that he wasn’t caught up with the words on the page, even if he wrote them. I remember he said, ‘Spit it out, don’t act it, just say it, and if that’s how you gotta do it in the heat of the moment, just do it.’ That was something that stuck with me throughout.”
That said, Crews adds there were moments when sticking to Stallone’s script was important, especially during one scene with Schwarzenegger that played on one of the Terminator star’s well-known catchphrases.
“We were all so excited Terry got to say that line,” says Couture, although no one was more excited than Crews himself.
“I had to be told by Sly to say that,” he says. “I definitely wasn’t going to walk up to Arnold and say it on my own, not at all.”
Although there will be plenty of opportunities for more puns if an Expendables 3 happens, something both actors seem confident of.
“They’re talking about a third one already, and that tells me there’s a dang good chance that there’ll be one,” says Couture, throwing out a list of possible names to add to the roster, including Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Clint Eastwood and Wesley Snipes.
“The list is endless,” Crews adds. “Can you imagine Kurt Russell? It would be killer.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger Moves Into Sister's Old USC Dorm
The University of Southern California just added another famous face to its student body. As of Tuesday, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's son Patrick Schwarzenegger, 18, appeared to be all moved in to his dorm at the popular L.A.-based college. "It's very different moving boys into college compared to two girls," Shriver, 56, Tweeted, along with a photo, from her son's new living space, which happens to be the same room her daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger lived in when she attended the school. "So much less stuff. No matching this and that."A day later, Shriver's words seemed a little bit tougher to type. "Sent my third kid off to college today," she wrote. "Heart-wrenching for me, so exciting for him. I understand how blessed he is." ">Katherine also lent a hand in helping her little bro get settled."So exhausted from moving @PSchwarzenegger into my old dorm at USC!!" she Tweeted on Tuesday. "So freaky and I'm for sure going to be waterworks all day tomorrow!" <As for the student-to-be, it appears he's still adjusting to his latest living quarters. ; "It's a little stressful but I'm so excited to be moved in," he Tweeted on Wednesday in response to an inquiring pal.A day later, he wrote, "10000000000 degrees in my dorm!!! Can't sleep at all."

Yu Nan: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know
Unless you’ve been trapped under a Jason Statham-sized rock these past few months, you know that The Expendables 2 is set to blow up theaters this weekend. You also may know that Terry Crews isn’t the only one with notable “cannons” in EX2. Agent Maggie, played by Yu Nan, becomes The Expendables' newest general ass kicker and first female member. She’s smart, deadly and, oh yeah, super hot. Who is this mysterious new member? How did she become Ahnold the Govanata’s right-hand gal? Will she date me? Here is what we know about China’s female answer to Chuck Norris.
1. She's a Chinese Native
Yu was born in the Chinese seaport town of Dalian. Dalian is also the hometown to Chinese acting legend, Toshiro Mifune who starred in over 100 films during his life. Toshiro, like Yu, was also a certified badass who starred in movies like Throne of Blood and Seven Samurai. I guess the superior ass kicking gene is in the Dalian water.
2. She's a Graduate of the Beijing Film Academy
The Beijing Film Academy is the Harvard of film schools. In fact, BFA is harder to get into than Harvard. 100,000 students apply annually and only 400-500 are accepted. Wanna go to BFA? You would have better luck in a roundhouse kick contest against Chuck Norris.
3. She Speaks Three Languages
Yu is linguistic triple threat who is fluent in Mandarin, French and English. Translation: She can kick your ass in 3 different languages.
4. This is Her Second Hollywood Film
Her first film was the all-but-forgotten “Speed Racer” remake. Granted that film was about as dense as a saltine cracker but hey, what that film lacked in plot it more than made up for in eye candy. Yu Nan had a small role but did get to grace the screen with Black Snake Moan hottie, Christina Ricci. (By the way, Yes, That is John Goodman in the background).
5. She’s Highly Regarded in the International Film Community
This might be her first major US film (no, “Speed Racer” doesn't count) but Yu has been making waves overseas for years #OceanPun!. She has been the star of many internationally recognized movies like “In Love We Trust” which won Best Screenplay at the Berlin Film Festival and “Tuya’s Marriage” which won the top prize at the Berlin Film Festival in 2007.
6. Sylvester Stallone is a Fan
In an interview with Emanuel Levy, Sylvester Stallone said “Yu Nan is a wonderful actress and she adds a lot of mystery and intrigue to the story. Maggie (Yu’s character) challenges Barney all the time because Barney's not very good with women” Sounds like in the movie Yu gives Rockie some butterflies in the stomach. Can’t say I blame him, look at that picture. If she’s good enough for Rockie, she’s good enough for me.
7. She Plays a Tech Expert in The Expendables
Ok, I gotta admit, I don’t think there is anything hotter than a girl that knows how to kick ass and then hack your facebook account. Yu plays EX2’s resident techie which automatically gives her an A+ rating in my book. She’s like a sexy Mac genius. Side note: If you are a sexy Mac genius, feel free to drop me a line.
8. She Won a Best Actress Award for her First Movie
Yu’s first major movie, “Lunar Eclipse” was also her first award winning movie. The movie itself garnered some international film buzz but it more famously landed Yu a Best Actress award at the Deauville Asian Film Festival. Surprisingly she didn’t win any award for Speed Racer. (Ok, I’m done with the Speed Racer jokes now).
9. She’s Not Afraid of Showing Some Skin
And I’m not afraid of looking at it. Seriously though, someone hand her a towel, she seems a bit dirty.
10. Shes Got More Movies Coming Out
She’s got three more movies coming out in the near future. Design of Death, The Five and Catching Monkey are all set to be released before the end of this year. So don’t worry, there is more of her for YU to see. Bazinga!
