The difference is this team has NBA champions in Kobe & Gasol and an NBA veteran in Steve Nash who has been through battles in the NBA.
The Heat consisted of Wade, who was a one time champion, Bosh who played for the Raptors and didn't know what it took to win and Lebron who had consistently failed numerous times when it counted.
This team will be ready. Chemistry will need to develop, but there's enough veteran presence to get that chemistry issue out of the way and quickly.

Exactly except for wade all of them were used to losing, especially lebron. It can be hard to get that out of your head.People keep using the Heat as an example but this years Lakers are going to be different than the Heat that lost in their first season.

One giant one is that none of the players the Lakers have occupy the same space on the court as Miami's big 3 do. LeBron, Wade and Bosh often run into the same lanes and to the same spots during games. This Laker team has 5 people all occupying different parts of the court and different elements of the game. That alone will help them mesh far quicker and easier.
Dwight in the paint, Pau on the elbows and a foot or so out, Kobe slashing, Artest roaming from low block to the arc and Nash probing and circling the arc. This team, once they get used to each other, will be virtually impossible to stop. it's once again all up to them as to how much or how badly they want to win.

No longer does he have to be in a position to bail the team out on every position, no longer does he have to initiate plays, no longer does he have to carry the weight of the entire offense and defense on his shoulders.
Kobe will be free to be a type of player we haven't seen, even while Shaq was here.
