Posted this in the gameday thread but Ill put it here as well.

@LakersReporter
LAL's legs looked tired in 2nd half. In related news, they practiced for 3 hours earlier today. Preseason emphasis is not on winning.

Really inexcusable for any team to practice 3 hours before a game.

I think they practiced for three hours earlier in the day. Still, no excuse for that. Really exposing the players to a higher risk of injury.

Might sound crazy, but I'm starting to miss Fish right now as a locker room presence. Hopefully Nash can fill that void a little.

We have Nash, and you still miss Fisher? :nah:

Sorry, didn't notice that this was over 2 months old.

C'mon guys, I think we're being a little too harsh on the guy. I mean you have to remember it's only his second year.

lol, but being serious what did they do for 3 hours? Scrimmage drills? have to know more although 3 hours and a game is too much

if Erik Spoelstra could win a championship I believe MB can with this team.

Yeah that's what i think too but Mike might prove otherwise.

Doesn't have to worry about either Nash or Kobe. At this point in their careers, they're not about to go mutiny on the head coach. I expect them along with Gasol being more than enough to keep Howard in check. Don't see too many problems, we have a ton of high character guys on the team next season.

This.

Nash logged 25 min today after 3 hours of practice. Not something you would like to see in a pre season game.

He's a professional athlete. He can take 1 day of hard exercise.

If Brown starts to really just do stupid rotations and overuse Kobe and Nash during the season, then yeah I'll side with you guys and say he's being an idiot. Until then I don't see how you can take a side when he's clearly trying to use the pre-season to see who is going to be on this team and who isn't based on how they play with our starters.

Did you not notice that Metta and Pau both played 30 minutes? It seems like he wants to see how our scrubs mesh with our starters.

All IMO of course.

on the Bright side, Nash is used to working as hard in the gym it's how he plays at a high level for so long, Kobe didn't practice today, and MWP LOVES working that hard in the gym. So really the only veteran that could complain about it is Jamison and his conditioning needs to get back on par anyway so it will help him get in basketball conditioning which we'll need.

So it's not as "terrible" as people love to freak out.

And it wasn't a 3 hour scrimmage it was a 3 hour practice. So it probably isn't so bad as you're trying to make it.

I'm not an idiot if I practice from 10 to 2 and I have a 7 o clock game so I don't see it as such a big deal.

Also what you neglect to mention is that Kobe was not playing tonight. So the extra hours in practice were probably trying to also break Meeks in to running with the first unit because he'd be starting for Kobe. Did you think about it that way?

Or did you assume they ran a 3 hour scrimmage and was just putting everyone's lives in jeopardy?

Eventhough Nash is used to working as hard, MWP loves working as hard, and Kobe wasn't practicing today so he didn't have to deal with it.

So really, people need to settle down.

I'm not assuming they scrimmaged or anything like that, but they still practiced for three hours, which on a day of a game is really dumb because the more tired the body gets, the more prone you are to injury.

I guess my problem is that they held a 3 hour practice then let our starters play extended minutes. Obviously there's not reason to be too upset because no one got injured thankfully but still it's not a very smart idea to do what they did this early in camp.

The conditioning is good for them, but I'd rather our head coach not put the players in danger like that. Just too much of a risk with the expectations our team has this season.
